In football at the moment, the only thing that annoys me as much as the potential defection of some quality Australian-born youth players, is Tom Rogic's move to Celtic.

I'm willing to bet he'd be a starring player of the league in the Eredivisie, even with a lower Bundesliga team, right now. He'd go into Brazil with lots of runs on the board, probably have a great tournament and maybe even come out of it with a contract at a big 4 side in England, Germany, Italy or Spain.

But instead at Celtic, he has got nothing whatsoever to show for it and it has stunted his career pretty badly. The FFA need to liaise better with our young players. The enticement of playing Champion's League means jack shit if you're playing for a team playing league football in a hatchet league and whose modus operandi is long balls and taking every opposition player on individually.

To be fair, it might be a bit of a different story for Jackson Irvine. He has basically built his career around Celtic and it's working out for him so far. I'm sure he'd benefit from a stint on the continent, but since he has started off at Celtic and is already doing well there, I won't criticise that. But Rogic is a different type of player at a critical period in his career, and so far has chosen badly.

Here's hoping he's still a starter in the World Cup, has a fantastic tournament and that he gets a better club after it.

Another problem is he was getting outscored by Brosque while they were both still in the UAE.

apostolos played nearly a full match and his team won....the guy is stringing together a lot of starts this year. He should definitely be called up

He has been playing brilliantly for his club all season. He has 11 goals from the midfield and they love him over there.

I'd like to see the new coach do a Hiddink - cancel a friendly or two and instead run an extended training camp where he can have a look at all these players and then settle on a "squad" of 30 to be whittled down to 23 in June.

yes its very difficult to choose a 23 at the moment let alone a starting 11

you could literally form 4 teams from that that would be roughly the same strength
