He had a good game, he made no defensive errors and Omiya only lost 1-0. He is showing his best form for the season, it is great to see the coach has kept faith in him and kept him in the team even if it was only on the bench.

He certainly did make no defensive errors, as he was on the bench all 90 minutes.

Nobody, I mean NOBODY was taking that bench! Good job Lucas!

Credit where credits due. That bench was going nowhere with Neil's fat ass on it. Held his own and justified his spot playing well on the bench for a lower middle table J-League club. KUTGW captain.

Wow Clube Brugge must have had a shocking day. If Ryan is their best player and they lost 4-1 ouch. That is strange. I'd love to hear more about that game.

Found it on the world game. No Ryan highlights though. Just the lows.

Another problem is he was getting outscored by Brosque while they were both still in the UAE.

In football at the moment, the only thing that annoys me as much as the potential defection of some quality Australian-born youth players, is Tom Rogic's move to Celtic.

I'm willing to bet he'd be a starring player of the league in the Eredivisie, even with a lower Bundesliga team, right now. He'd go into Brazil with lots of runs on the board, probably have a great tournament and maybe even come out of it with a contract at a big 4 side in England, Germany, Italy or Spain.

But instead at Celtic, he has got nothing whatsoever to show for it and it has stunted his career pretty badly. The FFA need to liaise better with our young players. The enticement of playing Champion's League means jack shit if you're playing for a team playing league football in a hatchet league and whose modus operandi is long balls and taking every opposition player on individually.

To be fair, it might be a bit of a different story for Jackson Irvine. He has basically built his career around Celtic and it's working out for him so far. I'm sure he'd benefit from a stint on the continent, but since he has started off at Celtic and is already doing well there, I won't criticise that. But Rogic is a different type of player at a critical period in his career, and so far has chosen badly.

Here's hoping he's still a starter in the World Cup, has a fantastic tournament and that he gets a better club after it.

Isn't Irvine on loan to Kilmarnock at the moment?
More has to be done to steer young players moving overseas in the right direction.

He's on loan at Kilmarnock. But his contracted to Celtic. I meant being at Celtic, generally, has worked out for Irvine so far.

In my experience, when there's that kind of a scoreline, it's often not really the keeper's fault, but the defence and midfield's fault. I haven't seen the match so I can't comment on it specifically. But often the opposition just dominate your midfield/defence and create a bunch of goal scoring opportunities which give the goalkeeper Buckley's chance. The opposition will put a few past the keeper, and he'll also make a bunch of amazing saves. And basically the keeper is the best player on the team. He makes great saves and can't be faulted for goals which are down to crap defending.

Cheers.

I'd like to see the new coach do a Hiddink - cancel a friendly or two and instead run an extended training camp where he can have a look at all these players and then settle on a "squad" of 30 to be whittled down to 23 in June.

yes its very difficult to choose a 23 at the moment let alone a starting 11

at the moment I consider the following players worth a look

ryan, galekovic,schwarzer, langerak, federici

davidson, lowry, williams, wilkinson, wilkshire, neill, spira, ognenovski, north, franjic, herd, smith, beauchamp, NTS, zullo, wright

mckay, bresc, cahill, kewell, oar, kruse, brattan, mooy, vidosic, bozanic, rogic, amini, luongo, sarota, holland, irvine, jedi, milligan,

gianno, leckie, ruka, babalj, thompson, kennedy, mcdonald

you could literally form 4 teams from that that would be roughly the same strength

That's a pretty big jump in logic there.

It also shows the problem with some fans. You can't judge or compare a performance over a highlights video.

Narrowed it down for you. The ones in bold I wouldn't give a look at. Thompson is only not bold because he seems to be good off the bench and has the ability to change games if used correctly and brings something to the squad.

As far as goalkeepers go, Langerak is playing well in limited opportunities, Ryan is playing well, Galekovic is playing well, Schwarzer and Federici are hardly playing. At this stage I would have thought 3 out of Langerak, Ryan, Schwarzer and Galekovic will go to the WC with Federici having a slim chance.

apostolos played nearly a full match and his team won....the guy is stringing together a lot of starts this year. He should definitely be called up
Is that Paul Giannou? What position is he playing?

9 i believe
Cheers.

I'd like to see the new coach do a Hiddink - cancel a friendly or two and instead run an extended training camp where he can have a look at all these players and then settle on a "squad" of 30 to be whittled down to 23 in June.

It seems he actually played LM/LW this game which is kinda strange since he is pretty big also annoying since it we need a number 9 more. I think number 9 is his preferred position though. Here is the goal, he is #99 and receives the ball at the start of the clip.
