+x+xWith Cech getting so much hate at arsenal, any chance they’d be interested in Ryan? Proven in the Prem, can play out with both feet, displayed some big game moments. Thoughts? Very different keeping in a low block side than one that keeps a high line and dominates possession and if his national team form is anything to go by he isn't ready for the jump. considering we have no one in the back four who would come close to arsenal, i would say they are very different propositions. ryan has made the jump. he faces more incoming balls for brighton then he ever will at arsenal. if anything, his job will be easier but he will be under more scrutiny.

Debatable. BHA has around 150 blocked shots this season, roughly double of Arsenal. There's more incoming ball but they're being dealt with by defenders in equal measure. On actual keeper saves the gap is only 16 - half a save per game.

The job is much harder at a top club, apart from the fact any mistake you concede will usually be catastrophic you also don't have the opportunity to atone for it as you will often only face a couple shots on target a match. Then the shots you face will almost always be of high quality making it even harder to make saves in which to ever have a decent career at a top club you need to actually make saves you shouldn't make on a regular basis, which is made even harder when you face 1 good chance a match. Then you have to factor in elite concentration because you will often go 40+ minutes without even touching the ball with your hands. Even the likes of Ospina who is a bloody brilliant keeper isn't even good enough to start for Arsenal. So while Ryan has had a great season people honestly need to calm down, it happens every year where about half the bottom clubs keepers look like world beaters but aren't good enough to make the step up. As it is easier to look good in a weaker team as you will make more saves because you face so many shots and the ones you do let it come under no criticism because of the amount of saves you've made. Let him show he can do it again next season and internationally then he might very well be ready for the jump, because while Australia might have a shit back four 4 we are superior to most of the Asian teams we play and dominate the game. In which it'll be no different to Arsenal as by the nature of the role and the way both sides play you will only face a shot if the defence fucks up and are then required to actually make the save which he hasn't done at international level. This might sound harsh on Ryan which isn't the intention as he has been great, but honestly people need to calm down about one good season at Brighton meaning he is ready to start at Arsenal.

+xmaty ryan with the 5th most saves in the EPL so far this seasonryan 92 #1 is fabianski on 106imo this is more deserving of the golden glove than clean sheets. I’d say percentage of shots saved is a better measure.Otherwise, it’s an unfair disadvantage to keepers at good clubs. I.e. David De Gea at Manchester United who IMO is easily the best keeper in the league.Plus it looks better for Matty, who has the 4th highest percentage of saves in the league. good point. either way the clean sheets thing is bs.

+x+xMaynard-Brewer on the bench for Charlton Aussie kid? What Position? +x+x+x3 goals 9 assists (including pens won) insane That Borello? what a surprise packet .. he'd be beating Kruse on those stats I gather rofl. I've lost track of how many pens kruse has won because transfermarkt and whoscored don't count them but yes well ahead of kruse after playing less minutes. Borello has about 1300 minutes in all comps is 3+8 and I think 1 pen whereas kruse has 1600 minutes and 4+3 and I think (?) 2 pens won? transfermarkt counts them if the player is fouled but not if a cross by a player leads to a handball then it does'nt and it doesn't if you win the penalty then convert it yourself which is kinda odd.. Who scored doesn't at all which is true. Transfrmarkt you can click on the team then penalty stats to see who won and who scored them. Juric wins a bunch as well makes Jedinak more valuable as I think he is 25/25 from the spot for club and country

Tidy finish by Jackson Irvine
funny how he would only go to a club that was a "step up" and ended up at Hull. if he was still with Burton they would probably be out of the relegation zone.

+x+xRogic really doesn't get into those positions for us in the Socceroos.. we really need to play him off the shoulder of Juric or as a False 9, he is our best goalscorer by a long way and we need to be putting him into those positions with the ball... I can imagine defenders coming out of the line to get close to Tommy and someone like Mooy spraying balls in behind for Leckie/Kruse. Rogic wasn't even in a good position, he just created something from absolutely nothing. He was at the point of attack after receiving, as soon as he picked it up and scooted past the defender it was always going in... there's not another Australian player that can put them away like that.

I don't disagree, but he most definitely does get in those positions for us, scored a similar goal against Germany.

I reckon he's a huge chance at Liverpool... they have gone through quite a few keepers and Maty would suit the high pressing Klopp teams perfectly... needs to have a massive world cup though.

Dropped? Rested?
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Caceres starting against Persepolis. Al Wasl haven't picked up a single point and will probably need some miracles to progress.

Sportstarlive-3 hours ago ISL: 'Football is never rosy', says BFC's Paartalu. Australian midfielder Erik Paartalu is relishing his time at Bengaluru FC and is eager the clinch the Indian Super League title when his side faces Chennaiyin FC in Saturday's final.

"Sometimes you only get one opportunity. I learned that from the state team set-up in Victoria. I don’t know how they run now, but when I used to go to state trials, you would kick the ball maybe three times and at the end of it they would read out a list of players who they wanted to see again." Wow I can see why we struggle to find talent now.

Good starting for Newcastle U23 v Bournemouth U23. No sign of Smith or Federici.

+xSmith and Federici desperately need to leave Bournemouth. Their careers are slowly dying. Without opening a massive Smith debate, he can and should make it at championship level. Really, he's not that bad, is he? He'd do quite well in Bundesliga 2 I think. I wonder who is keeping tabs on him. Bad deal for Bournemouth in the end.
