+xNo time for Sains or Behich 16 year old Dutch CM Ryan Gravenberch has shot past Pasquali in the pecking order, getting his senior debut against PSV in the 83rd minute and taking Clarence Seedorf's record as the youngest to play for Ajax in the Eredivisie.

+xDegenek starting in the big one against Partizan HT 1-0 for Partizan. They're rolling highlights of the first half on this rather poor quality stream and it looks like Degenek has had his work cut out for him so far at CB, he's cleared the ball off the line after the keeper spilled it. He was jockeying the striker outside of the box when he shot and scored, not sure if that was an error on his part though.

Time to start watching Martin Boyle at Hibs. Graham Arnold has recently kept an eye on him.

+xRodgers lack of interest in Arzani shows in him proclaiming that he hasn't played any full matches when he has. Kid tore up Hungary, showed he can match it on the world stage (aka was one of our only players who created chances and looked dangerous) but apparently isn't good enough to play for Celtic at the moment. I wasn't delusional to expect him to get game time straight away, but if he doesn't seem like getting a look in in the next month or so you'd have to start doubting a few things. Can only hope Rogers is protecting him by his pig headed sounding statements. I do believe he will regret not picking him for Europe. And as much as I enjoy the league, watching last nights game was not a good advertisement for its depth or quality.

+xMagic. 2-1 after Eduard subbed on. This guy is fit. They lost btw. Celtic lost again. Fitness problems in this club. Probably in the reserves this would be fixed. You are wrong. They are all fit. You can only play first XI if you are totally match fit. My team is port adelaide. Our coach is a stubborn mule . The longer he doesn't play a player that all are screaming why dont you play. He waits until it is too late, finally selects him. Plays him in the wet, for a limited time only and put of position so he can say see, told you so. I fear that is gonna happen with arzani. This 90 minutes thing is utter bullshit. A few more foregone points against spud teams, or a loss, and he will be desperate for it. Or, go stubborn. On the face of it That arzani is not picked for even the bench is ridiculous. I mean hes a loan player from another club right?

Smith off for Seattle with what looked like a hamstring injury early in the 1st, after giving up a penalty a few minutes earlier.

There are a couple of Australians plying their trade in the lower leagues of Portugal but there is one at the moment that is standing out: Gavin De Niese. The 22 year old midfielder is a regular starter for Gafanha in the Campeonato de Portugal (third tier) and his side is currently sitting in a promotion playoff spot after 6 rounds. His club has a YouTube channel called Gafanha TV which have broadcast a few lives games.

It's annoying that both Sainsbury and Behich seem to be rotting on the bench at PSV. Have they played at all this season? Why did Van Bommel take them if he doesn't rate them? Disappointing.
It's also becoming obvious that Arzani won't play under Rodgers this season. Rodgers doesn't seem to like him at all, which shows that he's a stupid and conservative man. A vastly overrated coach in a terrible league. Arzani definitely should have hung around in the a-league one more season. Now he's in trouble.

I was never really thrilled with arzani going to celtic but as a liverpool fan I must say rogers did a great job with Sterling

Could always off-loan to another SPFL for some game time. All run-of-the-mill stuff

https://twitter.com/CelticFC/status/1043873905977511936Going off Rodgers comments in the above link, Celtic are not looking good. Like an ex-AFL premiership team nursing way too many injuries AND youth. This does not paint a good picture. I suspect they will be struggling all season. Mulumbu struggling to be match fit - first game for a long time? Benkovic - did achilles in warm ups + had issue 8 months ago with it? (thought he was good in ECL) Rogic didn't start , didn't play ? - more injexions ? RABBLE.

I say Pep was the one who actually turned him into a winger who can score 20 goals a season..

I actually always liked Rodgers, so calling him overrated wasn't fair. He did wonders at Swansea. It's just annoying that he doesn't seem prepared to give our best potential and biggest hope in ages a chance to prove himself in the squad. It's absolutely shocking that he can't even make the bench in bloody Scotland. Arzani isn't 15 but 19 going on 20. He is more than good enough and old enough to at least be in the reckoning.
It seems that Rodgers is woefully underestimating and underrating him. It's not good for Arzani, whose confidence will inevitably suffer the longer he's shut out, and it's not good for Australia, who need him to play and keep developing.

Or maybe he isn't fit enough for the first team yet. And if he in fact isn't, doesn't this point to a problem with Daniel's own conditioning? Everybody knows he has the talent to be the best player in the league

A vastly overrated coach in a terrible league. Arzani definitely should have hung around in the a-league one more season. Now he's in trouble. Well to answer your first question the answer is depth, it is especially hard for Behich to break through to considering the other LB has been the best in the league and when PSV are absolutely dominating everyone including Ajax, odds are the manager isn't going to change what is clearly working. And not just dominating everyone, this is the best start ever from an Eredivisie team this century. So Behich and Sainsbury are going to have to wait till rotation starts kicking in later in the season because the team is playing too well right now for them to get in. As for Arzani's situation, Rodgers has an incredible record of bringing through youth so no point going on a tangent about how conservative he is because Arzani had to get up to fitness. He'll get his chance soon enough, honestly this whining everyone is doing because our players don't just walk in the door and start right away is incredibly frustrating. It isn't like he isn't getting into the squad at Killmarnock, Celtic are a good team.

Rodgers put him on the big stage where he was excellent, Pep just continued his improvement.

+xJames Holland got two assists against Jeggo who came on at half-time. I'm telling you Holland should be looked at again. His club linz are ranked quite high by most of the ranking systems atm so too the Austrian league. They are better these days than jeggos Austria Vienna. Holland is a walk up start and obviously playing well

Rodgers didn't know anything about him and it shows. Should have gone to PSV as van bommel was the one attempting the signing

I would've loved to be able to watch him in the A-League for another season.

PSV have a long season ahead. They knew what they were buying and will phase them into the side. Neither had a great preseason with the club. And the Arzani dribble crazy. Guys just moved to the other side of the planet, has barely played 90 minutes in his life, and has a long way to go as a player. Let him settle and adjust before putting too much pressure on him. Rogic was a nothing player when he went and look at him now. People on here just need to read what Rogers said recently and get it that Rogers both rates him and is managing him gently.
