All aboard the Valeri #AsianCupHypeTrain Mega LOL. He was one of, if not the worse player for the Socceroos almost every time he played. Can't pass to save himself, hasn't had a shot on target in his career, and was mostly a ball watcher. Yet you think the Aussie captain will be dropped to accommodate some guy who's played a total of 3 matches in 2-3 years? You must be his agent  Oh, look. A tap in. What a brilliant player. His only goal for the Roos in 50 appearances! 12 goals from 300 matches in the past 10 years isn't exactly indicative of an attacking talent with the ability to stun with the quality of his strikes. But sure carry on believing what you will. He'll probably never play for the Roos again, unless he absolutely nails the HAL (doubtful). Anyway, back towards the topic of Brillante it's funny how international judges have really rated him (at u20 WC and now in Serie A) yet back here people merely seem to think he's ok. I look forward to his development over the coming months! Not a massive Valeri fan but he was alright. Its not easy scoring from the DM position. I think Grella and Culina didn't have a goal between them in their respective international careers. A full strength Roos side is unlikeley to have him but a domestic squad would see him a chance

He's one who should make the AFC squad, hopefully his pain is manageable! This post made me laugh out loud several times. Calling him a ball watcher is the worst piece of football analysis since Channel 7 had the rights to the NSL games. He can pass a ball very easily too. People compared him to Vinnie Grella out that's a rubbish comparison. Carl is much more like Culina, in the way that he covers every inch of grass twice and always offers offers himself to the player with the ball. Watch him take advantage of how slow the A-League is.

More like he's a tap-in for more caps while under the watchful eye of Ange at the biggest club. Got him.

Three guys without a professional cap under their belt in an Asian cup squad? Few friendlies between now and then.

Just posted in rumour mill. Kicker here in Germany are reporting Kruse to go on loan. No clubs mentioned but the case is quite convincing considering his situation and how many offensive players B04 has.

I think that would be good, coming off a long term injury he'd struggle even more for playing time that B04. I thought he would struggle to be a starter at B04 even when on form to be honest

moofa wrote:Grella apparently advised Fiorentina's sporting director to get Brillante. Also the article suggests Valero, Pizarro, Aquilani and Mati Fernandez will be in front of Brillante in central midfield once the season starts. We could also expect another with midfield a position they want to strengthen. Quote:Sandro Rialti on CorSport recalled that it was Grella to report Joshua Brillante to Daniele Prade . Friendship, theirs, which has become the key for Italy, and indeed for Florence. And the thing is working since what seemed a bet is turning into surprise this summer. Joshua Brillante is the big party, game after game has convinced Vincenzo Montella at the spot from him to say: "Bravo and then ... is a smart player." Mica feat for a midfielder Australian presented basically as a good sweeper of balloons. But what you can find in this space Fiorentina? While Vecino and Bakic if they are going to go, he probably will remain to grow their own experience. Borja, Aquilani (which eventually should remain) with Pizarro, with Mati Fernandez in midfield and with shot that seems to be in the club purple cane, he should become a sort of Jolly http://www.violanews.com/stampa/brillante-loro-di-firenze-20140804/Here is also a more general article on Brillante arriving. It covers the disappointment of him not having his full beard, his name being perfect for puns (in Italian) and him taking his chance to impress the manager. http://www.fiorentina.it/it/news/articolo.37.15142/joshua-un-futuro-brillante-lo-sconoscuto-che-piace-al-destino.html shame that this suggests he wont start the club is a very high level though

I think we can be satisfied that the coach rates his start at the club. He probably will never be a starter for such a big club, but his physical maturity has helped him big time to kick off his career.

Valeri is a massive disappointment. I remember him after the 2006 WC with the mini Vinnie tag. He never fulfilled it.

I don't know what the word is but Taggart is the antithesis of baby faced. At the start of last season I thought he looked 40. Now he looks like he's walking out for his testimonial at age 45. Edited by u4486662: 5/8/2014 08:35:31 PM

Taggart looks like he has aged 15 years since joining fulham.
And he looks like he could be ADP's twin in that pic

Edited by roar #1: 5/8/2014 08:38:14 PM Yeah I reckon he looks even older than ADP, who is actually nearly twice his age.

Lescott has a knee issue which could see him miss the start of the season. There's that opening for Davidson. Good he can also play CB.
Kruse came on at 61min. I guess there MIGHT be an opportunity for some game time at Leverkusen but they'll have to go far in the cup and the next round of the CL but that's all January thinking anyway. A loan would be much more suitable.

West Brom played overnight and Davidson didn't play. He signed liked 2 and a half hours earlier and didn't even get on. Drop Him.
They lost 3-2 to Port Vale. Pocognoli didn't play. He injured his groin and hip in their last game.

johnszasz wrote:Valeri is a massive disappointment. I remember him after the 2006 WC with the mini Vinnie tag. He never fulfilled it. These tags are incredibly stupid, if your a winger its the next Kewell, a big striker its the next Viduka. Valeri wasn't at the 2006 world cup, and Valeri has never been dissapointing for the Socceroos. Valeri never made in it Serie A though he did get the long term injury as his club finally got promoted.Certainly Valeri never signed off on a really lucrative long term contract just before he became a crock like Grella did with Blackburn. What Valeri has done is have a good world cup in 2010 like Grella did in 2006. If Holger picked him and took him to be a disaster in Brazil like Grella did in South Africa then they would be comparable. Valeri could still dissapoint Victory as he has signed a 3 year contract, but I doubt that would be the same amount of misery that Grella Caused Blackburn who signed him up on a very well paid 4 year contract.
