Great to see Rogic played a great game, he does get criticised by some Celtic fans for not producing this game in game out apparently....

I was hoping at 4 nil and the game gone that the coach might throw Chris in to give him some experience and see how he goes.

We should start an Ikon debut countdown or countup clock.

My feeling is that Celtic and Aberdeen are championship level and the rest of the spl are league one level. Championship is still a high level though. Just my feeling on the matter. EPL is very very high.

Scotland only has a population of 4 million though.

Usually happens when you are winning. In times of desperation managers turn to safety even though they may be shit.

They're probably referring to the Aberdeen game earlier this week. I think people were unimpressed, some contributed it to fitness and recent socceroos games.

Have no idea what he has to do to get MOM though. Janko was good in the second half...but Rogic dominated, showing good strength and touch throughout the game with a goal and assist. Could have scored a hatrick in that game if it wasn't for some decent saves.

Well the reason they played him in that game so soon after international duties was because they wanted to play the other fella for the midweek game which iirc they lost.

I didn't just say losing either. I said they were down by 4 goals and the game was gone. It was the 74th minute mark when they made the final change. Realistically the game was over. Yes when a team has a comfortable lead they might also throw on a young player.

i think the manager would get reaaaamed if he just threw on a few players for the fuck of it and didnt try and stem the blood flow. that's the kind of thing to get you sacked - openly just give up on a game.

I'd tend to agree with this. While I am obv all for seeing Ikon get game time, I'd be pissed if Kev was losing and threw on the 16 year olds from the NPL U20s, but if we're 3 up against CCM as we were the other day then by all means blood them in.

That said, he wouldn't have been in this position if only he'd started the Ikon, of course.

He's hardly the equivalent of a 16yo NPL U20.

He's a full member of the first team who has three international caps for his senior national team and who the coach has turned down loan offers from other Serie A and Serie B clubs, and re-signed him to a 5 year deal. This obviously is not because he's a random unknown kid who they've shown so much faith in for shits and giggles.

Their last change was like for like. A forward for a forward. I wouldn't call this trying to stop the flow or limit the damage (they even conceded again). Chris is a forward and as full-time member of the first team is considered now by the coaching staff to be a valued member of that team. For people to suggest Chris doesn't offer any value to the team is a little surprising and disappointing.

Reminds me of when I predicted as a 17 year old that Chris would be playing for Australia and people mocked me. But I knew once they asked me for his number that it was just a matter of time.

 You don't have to tell me that he's a gun, I well know it!

I was basically putting those managerial decisions in the context of the club I support, Victory, to see how it would be received if he got his first cap in that manner. He will definitely get Serie A minutes any week now, for sure.

im right here with you on this. the ikon is a god in waiting. but if you bought him on this time and the game still ended 6-0 you would get brutalised for the decision.

The question is when or will Chris Ikonomidis get a opportunity to play for Lazio, we all hope he can that chance.

If not he should look for a loan move to get some game time and start establishing himself into first team football scene.

No the question is "when", not "will". As VoR said, they just signed him on a five year senior deal ahead of this season, have ignored the loan approaches of various Serie B and lower Serie A clubs and not put him in the Primavera squad and put him on the bench for the senior squad and so it's clear they plan to blood him into the latter.

He will get first team Serie A minutes this year. When he does, the ball is in his court.

Yep, the coach wants to bring in the youth he wants, and he wants Ikon, but he has to keep his job to do that.

Yep, the coach wants to bring in the youth he wants, and he wants Ikon, but he has to keep his job to do that.

With all due respect I can't see the bringing on of any sub when the score is 4 nil with 15 minutes to go being the part where fans start calling for blood. Perhaps if they took off a striker for a defender but even then most fans I'd say would be resigned to a loss and much more disheartened over the already existing 4 nil. Who knows though I'm not Borg so can't tap into the collective consciousness of Lazio fans.

good to see Brad Jones finally get a game for Bradford. Will be interesting to see if he keeps playing the keepers selected for the next squad with Cisak being called last time. Brilliante and Herd both getting game time is good news as well. fills that void at right back. Lets hope Taggart Juric and Bulut can all start getting a bit of game time so there is competition up front. Things are looking pretty bright for the socceroos.
