Good to see Valencia signing two very competent central defenders in Garay and Mangala. Hopefully Ryan continues to start and he gets better protection from that pairing. I'm a bit concerned that Alves didn't get a move, though. Valencia's chairman had said only two keepers would be staying (presumably Jaume and Ryan), but with Alves staying at least until January it may cause Ryan to drop back down the pecking order.
I don't mind Ikonimidis' move, Denmark is a reasonable level and more than anything he needs first team action at this point in his career.
Disappointing also that Kruse wasn't loaned out. I can't see him getting much game time at Leverkusen. A real waste to have him sitting on the bench during the early stages of the WC campaign.

Disappointing move for Ikon. Kind of shows where his club think's he's at. Playing for a bottom half Danish team is nothing to get excited about for a young player who was held in high regard.
If he was still held in such regard he'd be on loan to a better club and/or league.
Better than not moving. But you'd hope he can stand out otherwise his stocks will plummet.

Also, not really sure if he counts as an "Aussie Abroad" for the purposes of this thread, but shout-out to striker Emile Damey of Victorian NPL 2 East club Nunawading City FC, who arrived in Australia as an 11-year-old refugee and made his debut overnight for his native Liberia, coming off the bench to score a debut goal against Morocco! Apparently he drew praise from Liberian legend George Weah, too.

+x+x+xNothing wrong with the move. He is only 21. No point getting loaned somewhere then sitting on the bench. St. Pauli will lose many games and probably be relegated which would hinder his chances of playing. but Amini who only 23 years old, Mabil who only 20 years old, and McGrath who failed in the A-League, are no where near being selective for Australia team I would argue and say Amini is on the fringe of being called up to the Socceroos. EDIT: And they are different positions, you can't really compare the two. Amini isn't called up as we have a lot of central midfielders where on the wings we are a bit thin. when Ange is pulling players from the bottom of English League one and has use 60 plus player in Soccerroos squads , , that fringe is still a long way away sure, different positions,,, but not really for McGrath and Mabil....

Wilkshire has re-signed at his old Russian club, Dinamo Moscow. They play in the second division after a surprise relegation last season. He sounds really happy to be back there, good luck to him.

Odd timing with the announcement but Leckie has extended his contract with FC Ingolstadt until 2019. Source: Ingolstadt's official twitter account.

Man, I was certain a few years ago that Antonis would be a regular Socceroo by now.
He's stagnated, big time. Injuries haven't helped, of course...

Antonis has been a huge disappointment. He's been talked about as the next big thing for sooooo long.
He wouldn't even be our 10th choice CM atm.

Good stuff from Deni Juric but worth mentioning it was a friendly against a Bosnian club rather than a league appearance.

People talking about Amini to be called up to the Socceroos.. What he has done to warrant a call up?
Also on Panos, was that a league game or friendly?

Aside from Arnekas and Juric making debuts last weekend, Jordan Holmes played 45 mins in a friendly against AC Milan. Antonis and Konstantinidis both came off the bench for Veria in a friendly. Konstantinidis has just transferred to the Super League from Aris.

Lots of friendly action for our young Aussies at big clubs. Will be interesting to see who gets competitive gametime now.
