+x+x+x+x+x+xI am not surprised with the 11 aerial duels. Being a Villan I thought a local derby game would be a good match to watch ... but alas both teams were happy lobbing the ball in long from their own half (not far off being a volleyball match). Jedinak's main play was sitting deep in the midfield and kicking any balls that came his way as far up the field as possible (the opposition would then return serve ... it would bounce around a bit then hit back over the net, I mean half way line). I can't see Jedinak keeping his starting spot in the Socceroos given the style of play Villa do ... unless we need a game to sit deep and defend (given Ange's "winning" mentality" I see him becoming a bench player to add steel to the defense when we are up or holding on to a game, unless of course Villa change course and learn to pass the ball to players. seems like Irvine is becoming the better option as he is able to get forward when needed..he can beat a player or two also. luongo is better suited to sit deeper. he plays as a 6 at club. irvine plays as an 8. just because he is tall doesnt mean that they are the same. he might be for QPR.. I just don't he's quick enough or has the size to be a superior #6 to Irvine... yeah he's just consistently rated one of the best in the championship for that position and has 2 awards for qpr's player of the month in a season that's 3 months old. seriously move on from height fixations. What's the regular shape of the QPR central midfield, though? Not saying you're wrong, but I want to establish that it's a similar role before accepting the proposition he's a better CDM than Irvine for the Socceroos. go to whoscored https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/171or go to this one and compare them against each other https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1084972/Live

That says there's two CDMs, nominally, at least. That leads to the next questions... does Mass stay back? If so, he on his own much of the time (as he would be in a central midfield attacking triangle)? Or does he roam more like a box-to-box midfielder? Those who pay a lot of attention to QPR are best-placed to answer those kind of questions. But you get where I'm going with it, it no doubt. Even if he does roam forward, it doesn't rule him out. I'd just be that bit more hesitant to have him back on his own if he's not already doing that for his side. All good if we play 2 x CDMs, Mass is perfect then. But extra scrutiny needed if he's on his own. That's, I think, where size and speed become very useful tools. The thing is that I think Ange is loathe to have two CDMs (even with just 2 central defenders). Obviously if we're playing with three central defenders, those questions about CDMs are much the same (as we'd probably have just the sole CDM).

Chris Herd has to get another shot, I think if you pull him in and show him what its like to be in socceroos and playing, it will only make him work harder to get back to where he was..

Mass is a great player but does he match our philosophy or the way we wanna play?

Yer meant they won last 3 of 2nd stage. Their 2nd stage (17 games) was reasonable.

Mass is a great player but does he match our philosophy or the way we wanna play? mass has been one of the best performing roos since ange took over. he plays as the ball winner sitting deep as well as initiating play and moving forward. i would like to know how many games people have actually watched of irvine who think he is doing better than luongo. luongo will be in the premier league next year. as a ball winning, play making defensive mid who can tackle and bring a physical game. jedinak plays in a pair of defensive mids. at crystal palace and at aston villa. its daft to think that would rule them out.

Brad Jones played for Feyenoord in the Europe League last night against Zorya, with the end resulting being 1-1. Jones saved a penalty, but unluckily the ball sat up nicely for the Zorya player who put the rebound away. He had a solid game and made some decent saves, just unlucky for the penalty (which the Feyenoord player got sent off for). Highlights - http://www.goalsarena.org/en/video/uefa-europa-league/03-11-2016-zorya-feyenoord-europa-league.html

A goal away is always good, the injury not so much, hopefully it's not to bad.

Big night for Aussies. Firstly still no Elder for Brentford.
Yeaboah starting the reserves game against BVB reserves and scored. Currently leading 2:1.
Halloran with no time from the bench. Heidenheim 2nd now. Goodwin, Ikon and Amini all starting.

Looks like King Kenny also played a full game in the middle of the park.
Amini played 71' and Ikon grabbed himself a yellow in a 0-0 draw over in Denmark.

I watched a little of the Sparta game ad didn't notice Kenny too much but from what I could tell he was in the centre. He definitely wasn't at LB. Here are the highlights, The Sparta goals go Goodwin assist, Dougall assist, Goodwin goal.

how many goals is that now? 2 or 3? Think Oar only managed 4 in 5 seasons... Goodwin should start against Thailand.

He will break through in a big five league at a relatively young age after an initial slow delevopment, do very well and get signed by a club that are one of the best in the world (arguably better than arsenal) do pretty well establishing himself as one of the top five outfielders Australia has ever produced for a couple of months only to succumb to a long term injury just before the world cup and come back as a pretty decent player who lacks precision in front of goal

Mooy Jedinak Irvine Wright starting. Herd might play in the FA Cup and has a fan shop appearance before the game.
Luongo not even in the squad. Weird.
Mauk vs Davidson later and Roda play after that.
