I heard U23 and start from NPL 1. I agree with the U23 idea. But they should all start from the bottom.

And be immune from relegation. Ridiculous.

Are you sure about that? I haven't seen that anywhere.

For anyone who is interested, this actually happened in Portugal's second tier. The league expanded the league and gave some of the big clubs B teams in the second tier.

any player movements for 2021?

We have got Jemery Cox and Blake Bouzanis back, we only retained 6-8 players from our pre-covid squad. James Andrew and Pavlovic were rumoured names along with an unnamed player from Melbourne Knights.

Nick Litter and Guy Knight have left Wollongong for Bulli Fc.

Good signing, still got a lot to offer, wonder if APIA let him go since they got Blake Powell.

I expect most of you have seen heard the annoucement :
we can exclusively reveal the changes approved by FNSW for the 2021 & 2022 seasons.
They pretty much follow the direction of what Graham Arnold has been pushing for over the past few months > 3 divs of 16 in 2022
> NO Relegation to occur in all divs in 2021
> HAL teams either given the option to increase age limit to U23's OR have x4 U23's & x1 U24 in the squad
> Youth given option to maintain as is OR follow seniors
> Undecided if WSW & CCM will be given auto-promotion as yet
> PPS to remain in place with little to no changes

Having 16 teams in all NPL 1 competitions makes sense and having the A-league academies become U23 teams makes sense BUT I don't think having the lower tiers with 16 teams makes sense. There isn't enough money to pay coaches, players, admin and so on for a 9 month football season outside the NPL 1 competitions.

what makes sense would be demanding the a-league clubs be responsible for making sure their elite youngsters play enough games in a proper competition.  there should be an under 21 comp that follows the a-league season with all u21 fixtures to be played as curtain raisers to every single a-league game.
instead we have NYL teams being parachuted into NPL comps.
its ridiculous.

It’s been canned. A-League clubs don’t have the $ to fund a 12 round NYL comp, instead, they expect the semi pro NPL clubs to find additional $ for additional rounds for their youth league teams to play in, because the current national team coach thinks it’s a good idea.

No. Top 4 in NPL 2 in 2021 go into NPL 1 in 2022, top 8 in NPL 3 in 2021 will go into NPL 2 and the rest become NPL 3.
