The Board of Football NSW has declared the successful applicants for its 2021 Outdoor Competitions.  These include the Men’s, Women’s, Boys’ and Girls’ leagues that will be conducted by Football NSW in the 2021 season.

At its meeting on 27 October 2020, the Board of Football NSW considered all applications submitted by Clubs seek to participate in the 2021 season.

Football NSW can confirm that, in relation to its Men’s, Youth & Association Youth League Competitions, all of the incumbent Clubs were successful and, therefore, no new applicants were considered.

In recognition of the Women’s Competition Review that has recently commenced, the Women’s NPL and Girls’ Conference League Competition structures are to remain as per the 2020 season. With the exception of Western NSW FC, all incumbent NPL Women’s Clubs applied for the 2021 Competitions and were successful. Western NSW FC have moved from the NPL 2 NSW Women’s Competition into the Girls’ Conference League Competition for the 2021 season. Although this move creates a vacancy in the NPL 2 Women’s Competition for the 2021 season, Football NSW took the view that, in light of the ongoing Women’s Competition Review and the fact that Review may propose changes for the 2022 season and beyond, it was not appropriate to add any Clubs.

The 2021 SAP remains as per the 2020 Competitions structures. All 42 incumbent SAP Clubs applied for the 2021 Competitions and were successful, as such, no new applicants were considered.

The 2021 Girls’ SAP remains as per the 2020 Competitions structures. All 24 incumbent Girls’ SAP Clubs applied for the 2021 Competitions and were successful, as such, no new applicants were considered.

So above link confirms, bottom 2 relegated, PL2/3 top 2 promoted.

Don't think FFA are very happy with this decision from FNSW.

Work their way up like the rest of the clubs, or maybe offer a sweetener for the npl clubs, open the a-league to pro-rel...

I agree. I still think they should have expanded to at least 14-16 teams. Makes perfect sense to make our second tier play at least 30 competitive games until we get a NSD. The rest of the NPL's can stay at 12 teams.

agreed. I am sick of the HAL clubs and academies getting a leg up.

Jets, CCM & WSW would occupy the bottom 3 positions on the table, with 4,5, & 6-0 scorelines, and that doesnt help anyone.

It’ll be good to have Sutherland back. Hopefully you guys can pull off a few good signings and promote some identified youth into the first team. The competition is better when Sutherland are competitive. You guys seem to have a good track record with youth development.

A-L Academies need to be U23 squads like the rest of the world - would make them a lot more competitive.

I also believe they should have to earn promotion.

I agree with FFA and Arnold that all NPL 1 competitions should be 16 teams to increase the amount of games in our second tier (until we get a proper second tier) whilst the rest can stay at 12 teams.

Or they can simply get together and play eachother in a 6 week 2 game a week preseason tourney played out of fnsw as their preseason and then straight into npl.

what exactly is the benefit of npl clubs shelling out 8 more weeks of wages, ground rental, training, when all the elite youngsters get picked up by the academies for basically free. If an average team is paying 10k a week for players, coach, physio and ground rental, across the country where the hal academies are playing, and the cost is much higher for nsw and Vic, npl clubs are collectively being asked to find an additional at least $6m a year to fund hal academy player development.

That's why we also need to introduce training compensation. The benefit is they also get closer in schedule to a full time player so the gap between A-L and NPL is smaller. Do these clubs want an open pyramid or not? It will require more games.. this is one of the steps to making it happen.

NPL clubs are happy to pull their weight. But u can’t simply secretly approach the fnsw board at the end of a Covid season, in October, and tell the npl clubs to find another 100k for next year as there’s gonna be an additional 8 rounds, for the good of Australian football. Why on earth don’t the al clubs play their nyl games as pre matches for their a league games? Don’t have $ to fund it? Spend less on players, coaches, staff, make cuts elsewhere to fund it, find additional income. Nope, Easier to pass the costs down to the npl clubs to fund development. Npl clubs can’t find the $, oh well you shouldn’t be wanting to get into a 2nd division then... total madness.

They would smash 4th and 3rd division and as we've seen , while they have their full squads, NPL 2 isn't that much for them either. They are to good for those lower level teams. It would be embarrassing.

yer but the point is noone should get a free pass - earn your promotion.
Then you'll gain the respect.
CCM done well in PL2 but not the Jets, struggled near the bottom 1sts/U20's and don't forget covid screwed up many 1st's squads in the PL and some 20's didn't go ahead as well.
It shouldn't be a true indicator season past ut it is what it is.
They will keep leveraging their might but its not right.

What you don't understand is in a normal season all NYL teams lose their best players to their Aleague squad when they start pre season leaving them to struggle for the remainder of the season. What you saw with CC this year is a full squad  and they killed it. WSW didn't do a bad job in NPL1  for their first go and you ,obviously, have no idea what the long distance travelling does to young bodies in the case of N/castle.

well, FYI , I know all too well regards travel for games.
My son had done YL all the years not too long ago from Sydney's north east to Bathurst/Mudgee/Orange/Southern Branch <as known then when in the comp earlier etcetc, spare me please......thats football when being the away Club. We all know its not a half hour drive and also being there 1 1/2hrs prior to koff.
As for losing some players to Snr squad, isn't that the norm for all to me.
Here some more detail for you unless you've looked :
WSW in PL1
1st's finished 2nd last !
U20's 3rd, that a good effort.

Not forgetting most PL2 Clubs work on 2 trainings a week
CCM killed it against semi pros if you can call them that.
PL2 1sts won the league by 1point, forgetting the mickey mouse play offs of todays world, their win came from "scoring" (which is great thats winners for me) best GF @ 38 but their defense GA was 4th best. Luck comes into winning seasons at those margins but good on them.
As mentioned many Clubs had unsettling starts due to covid, and the regular PL2 Clubs came up against new opponents, the unexpected is a good advantage.
The U20's did kill it winning the league x 8points and best defense but Tigers out scored them in GF.
Also not many scores were blow outs but tell me, Jets @ Pluim their shortest game to travel lost 1-4.
My observations of Jets they lacked the end product, "finish", maybe Laurie/McBreen and all need to give them shooting practice instead of on and on possession football, scoring wins games as CCM U20's show..

So its not as black and white as you post AND did the travel hinder CCM ? doubt it, same goes for all.

I think what you don't understand the Jets came into a comp (a free ride may I say) that is above where they have been playing in recent seasons.

I wonder what the lower National Leagues in the UK think of their travels ? part of being in the comp.

well, FYI , I know all too well regards travel for games.

All I've heard on this forum is how our young players aren't up to it.  An opportunity to garner the exposure they need to accelerate their progress becomes available and all you can do is shoot them down. Most of the ones who've gone O/S are not playing quality minutes at quality levels and so we should do everything to hold back the ones who are here from improving. No wonder the game is going backwards in this country. Envy is not a good look on anyone.

envy, I'm sure there is from some, all I've done is put down what I've witnessed and stated facts and figures, whats that got to do with lack of playing time.
Shoot them down ? every Club no matter where from needs to earn its right for promotion, thats been a normal starting point.
What I've seen on the forum is that our own promising players are not getting enough playing time in the AL squads and I agree.
