+x+xwhat's with clubs this season making 3pm KO's on saturday, and even 5.30pm? Northbridge are going it, Sutherland, Olympic & APIA. I'm all for friday night games, but those saturday times are just stupid. I guess clubs don’t pull much of a crowd at any time don’t really care if they’re at an inconvenient time for fans. i thought the same thing as well, its basically the clubs with no fans. Saturday's are kids sports, people work etc, not a good way to promote the game, when you make it impossible to attend. Friday nights - fine Saturday nights - fine Sunday afternoons - fine thats how it should be.

Well NPL1 comp starts Friday night. Notable games for me, Marconi vs Sydfc SO vs SU - should be a great game but Sat 4pm koff as some have mentioned. BC vs APIA Suns vs Wolves and will be interesting how the new Bulls match up with the returning Sutho. The rest of us NPL's koff following Saturday March 6.

+x+x+x+xspeaking of synthetic pitches, Sutherlands Pitch looks terrible at the moment. is that getting re-done anytime soon? last couple of years has looked drab. If I recall right its was the first syn done years and years ago, surely it has had some new syn over the years I expect ??? Sutho fill us in. It was re done about 4-5 years ago after originally being installed late 2000’s, so my guess would be another couple years before being done again. I’m no expert but I think it’s still tiger turf which maybe isn’t as good as some of the newer stuff out.
When it rains all the rubber comes up and pools together and looks trash, not sure the reason but maybe too much rubber(?) especially after a full day of youth league, 20’s then by first grade it looks terrible. My guess would be one of the reasons why youth and seniors have been separated on alternate weeks for the coming season. I have seen it after being brushed/levelled and it looks like a different pitch.
Is that Pipe King guy with the Lambo still sponsoring the club? I believe so, he is front of shirt sponsor.

good solid away win against Olympic on saturday, i felt like we were the better side and deserved the win. Rockdale hammered Wolves, seems as though they are weaker this season?

Mixed feelings from our game, we really need to be beating Northbridge if we are going to do anything successful this season, I thought they were quite poor. We had good passages of play but lacked creativity in the midfield. Their 2 goals really should’ve been delt with by Bouzanis. James Andrew, McStay And our back 4 looked good at times as did Masciovechhio when he came on.

They missed James up front and Stojcevski in the middle, but their, I imagine, full strength defence seems a bit shakey more than anything.

I agree 5 at the back isn’t great, hopefully when Simonovski/Oliver Green are in the line up will give us a better option of playing through the middle more.

Sutherland 1-1 Marconi, 2 points dropped for us, we really should have finished our chances better on Saturday, just lacking that deadly striker which hopefully Simonovski will provide when he returns. In saying that we are performing better than expected. Marconi looked really poor especially in the first half, Mallia was introduced at half time and made an impact for their side but on paper I was expecting a lot more from Marconi.
Decent crowd of around 800-1000 for us and a good day out, at the end of the day happy to have our team back playing and being able to attend again.

Thanks Sutho, yep main thing nothing being back at the football proper compared to last season, worse for your guys opting out. I watched bits of games on npl.tv. - got annoyed by the intermitted coverage I was experiencing, this really needs some tweaking. Not a bad crowd down there for you guys, didn't you miss a pen ? Marconi sounds like they are going to struggle, same goes for APIA again :( Early days I guess. I expected BC and Suns wins. Shame Manly had the win till late allowing the draw. Rippa result by SU, nothing like knocking off those Clubs so convincingly.

good summary from your perspective Kolner. APIA puzzles me the last 2 seasons. I take my hat off to Parisi but at 38 odd yrs and still a main cog to a degree (by the way nice goal) asks you why haven't they found a sound successor to date and more up and comers.

Agreed, this weekends match up between APIA and Olympic will be interesting with the losing coach under some pressure.

APIA gloating how last year was non-existent, treating it poorly and claiming still to be champions, has come back to bite them it seems? Still early days in the season, i'm sure the former champions will turn it around....

3 from 3 for us. Solid start to the season, which we hope continues this week. I thought Sutherland put up a good fight in the second half. what happened between Marconi and Rockdale, besides the cracking 3-3 scoreline, seemed like there were some afters between both benches?!

I actually thought we started off well in the first 30, could’ve got a goal with a few decent chances. United started off slow but then started to control the game, after the second goal we were never coming back. Our options up front seem to be our weakness, McStay again was easily our best player. Marconi with Mallia on looked like a different team from last week and with the striker from last seasons North Shore Mariners look to be kicking into gear now.

yes very good start SU58, you guys and Suns should be hovering those positions for the season barring injuries and the odd curve ball loss.

Bit of time wasting from the Marconi bench throwing balls onto the pitch a couple times whilst 3-2 up followed by a fun celebration by the boys when they got the equaliser...
