Seen on TWG Mr Craig Foster bring up again the issue (of in particular NSW) that clubs with Senior teams in the State Premier League are required to have youth teams from U13's upwards and thus have a monopoly over the premier youth leagues. They can then use the fees charge to these kids and their families to help pay for their senior team.

Is anyone effected by this?
How should the clubs that get to have these state league teams be picked?
How can we ensure that these kids and their families are getting "value for money"?
Should the state leagues in either senior or youth levels or both be restructured?
How important should winning be at this level?

Isn't Super Youth League basically for any rep club and have teams from all the NSWPL clubs?

Those teams really could not compete against the NSWPL youth teams they dont have the infrastructure they would need.

There is a similar requirement in Victoria in that State League teams MUST have at least two junior teams.

Most Juniors who play at clubs with Senior teams are there to sponsor the Senior side. However, that said they have a career path that is not open to players at 'junior only' clubs who once coming out of their junior set up have to go and try to break into the reserve team, youth set ups of clubs with established teams and players.

As a parent you really have to weigh up one against the other based on your childs ability and aspirations.

Sounds like Mr Foster trying to complain for the sake of complaining. The problems in this country are caused by the structure of the leagues or the clubs, but by the standard of the coaching and the commitment of (some of) the kids/parents.
