Dear Buggalugs,

No doubt you saw the news yesterday that Canberra and Capital Region was not one of the two bids granted licences to enter the A-League, but all is not lost.

Our promise to you at the start of this process was that the bid team would keep pushing until the job was done, and that is exactly what we will do.

FFA have indicated they are interested in working towards granting our bid with an A-League licence outside the formally concluded expansion process. We are set to meet with the FFA next week to discuss the bid’s future, and our message will be clear – we are ready — commit to us now or risk losing this region for good.

  • We have a major international investor, one that owns a number of household-name sporting clubs throughout Europe and the US that you will be familiar with.

  • We have a home with GIO stadium, we have secured millions of dollars through an on-going agreement with the ACT Government, and a Championship winning women’s team.

  • The community is united – we have an unprecedented level of support, from every NPL club and association in our region, local and federal politicians on all sides, more than 100 volunteers and most important of all you.

We know that more than eight thousand Foundation Members are itching to have a men’s team to call their own.

We need your help more than ever.

To facilitate international investment in our club, we will be seeking from the FFA an avenue for a Capital Region Club to enter the A-League within a reasonable timeframe. And while the bid team will never give up, it would be understandable if football fans across the region felt like they could not get behind an A-League bid for a third time following two major disappointments.

This is no longer a bid, it is movement for change.

Here is what you can do to help – keep your voices heard. Let the FFA know that the Canberra and Capital Region is ready for an A-League club. Speak out on social media, send emails, and continue to engage with the bid.

Below are contact details of people at FFA you can engage with, but please, keep it civil.

While we know emotions are high, we do not want any abuse or harassment directed at anyone on behalf of the bid.

A huge thank you for everything you have done in support of the bid, the community response the bid team has received over the last eight months has been truly humbling. This is not the end of the line, we will keep you updated.

Regards
