Sydney Hakoah is a Jewish football club which used to play in the NSL and used to be owned by Frank Lowy. People that try and link them with Sydney FC are doing so because Frank Lowy is a part owner of Sydney FC.

i had a look at their kit as well, sky blue shirt and socks. only the shorts colour was replaced, replacing white with navy blue. more reason why people link SFC and hakoah

i have further questions, is it a good thing or a bad thing? if its a bad thing, would the SFC fans vote on a colour change?

sorry for my nonsense im spewing out on this page o:)

These people seem to forget that the Hakoah FC still exists, just not at a national level.
And Sky Blue has always been NSW sporting colours, so Sydney FC in light blue shirts and dark blue shorts is exactly the same as the NSW State of Origin team, the NSW Blues cricket team and about a hundred other sports where NSW teams play in blue.

navy = SFC
white = Hakoah

The Hakoah thing is a childish taunt - but one can see where it originates... Lowy took his club out of the NSL because he couldn't have things his own way, decades later set up the A-league, used the same colours and general location to set up a new club (in which he was a stake-holder, along with a few other chaps who just happened to share the same religion IIRC)...

That Sydney FC is Hakoah under a different name is just an incorrect perception - but as we SMFC fans keep being told, perceptions are often more important than reality.

Without wanting to stereotype - I find it curious that you link him to Hakoah, and he links himself to Spurs... Two clubs with a decided leaning toward a certain religious group.

The word hakoah is Hebrew for "The Strength".

As one of the main instigators of calling SFC "Hakoah v2.0" perhaps it's best that I explain why.

During the early NSL days Frank Lowy was the president of Hakoah/Sydney City and was widely seen as an autocrat. When the ASF (now FFA) did not share his view he ran for the ASF presidency and lost, then proceeded to throw his toys out of the proverbial pram by first petitioning to withdraw Hakoah's backing of Sydney City, effecitvely folding the club, then resigning from his presidency of the Hakoah club and withdrawing altogether from football.

Fast forward to 2003, a'la the Crawford report, and (then) Prime Minister John Howard appealing to Lowy to rejoin the fold where he was instated as interim chairman of the newly formed ASA (now FFA) board. Lowy failed to implement the recommendations of the Crawford report yet instead of carry out their threats to withdraw funding from football should the Crawford report recommendations not be implemented, the Howard government bank-rolled Lowy to the tune of $15-$16mil.

Fast forward again to the formation of the A League. Soccer NSW (now FNSW) won the bid for the Sydney franchise over a rival bid headed by Nick Politis. Long story short, Lowy ripped the guts out of the Soccer NSW bid to the point where they backed out completely, citing Lowy's autocracy as a major concern. Lowy shipped the team from their proposed base at Parramatta to Eastern Sydney and took complete ownership of the club where to this day he still retains an 8% ownership stake.

I couldn't care less if Lowy was Catholic, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, Atheist or a worshipper of the flying spaghetti monster, to put it as nicely as possible he is a grub and the poster-child for egotism and corruption. Lowy's vendetta against the NSL saw him bury the competition altogether and usurp the state's governing body for football to create the club he wanted, where he wanted and how he wanted it all in the league he dictated... hence Hakoah v2.0.

Lowy's vendetta against the NSL saw him bury the competition altogether and usurp the state's governing body for football to create the club he wanted, where he wanted and how he wanted it all in the league he dictated... hence Hakoah v2.0.

yeah i too called it hakoah v2.0. no wonder sydney fc numbers are low. its his god damn play thing. Sydney needs a whole new identity to steer them away from hakoah and lowly all together.
