The headline is a bit of a stretch. FFA aren't 'backing' FFV, they are backing a resolution of the problem between the parties involved, without the FFA. What do you think about the FourFourTwo article FFA backs FFV in NPL row? FOOTBALL Federation Australia has broken its silence on Victoria's National Premier League crisis insisting it is satisfied with the steps taken by the state body.Have your say.

Hopefully now the clubs realise that the FFV runs football in Victoria and not a select group of clubs, I for one hope that the lines of communication and negotiation can be reopened and that positive and constructive dialogue is able to take place. Quote:But in a statement issued today, FFA boss David Gallop said he was satisfied FFV had followed the principles of the National Competition Review. I think this once and for all puts an end to the allegations that the FFV had in some way gone rogue. The onus now is on the clubs to either get on board, or walk away and condemn yourself to a life outside of the NPL. I personally think the clubs threatening legal action are naive and misguided, and might be best served by reexamining their options.

This sounds like the sort of shenanigans that went on during the NSL. And we know how the NSL ended up!

The FFV have followed the principals of the review - it's the execution that is being questioned. The inflexibility and the refusal to work with the clubs. The clubs have made numerous suggestions which, as the FFA say, have been taken on board elsewhere.

The game's changed, the rules have changed, the clubs hold no collective power in forcing the outcomes of major decisions affecting the game, legal threats against the Governing bodies are just laughable and empty, the only thing that matters is reform for the better, and reform will come in the State Leagues just like it came in the national league and the game will get stronger and stronger whether the Melbourne "giant" that's leading the resistance pulls its head in and conforms or it chooses to go down to the lower reaches of the VPL where it can continue to do its own thing, run its own race like it has always done and keep bullshitting about how everybody else is to blame for its demise but itself. The game is not at the mercy of any one club or any group of clubs anymore. Nobody's listening to your bullshit anymore. The football community is not on your side. The football community that comprises hundreds of thousands of fans around the country wants to see reforms and wants to see the State Leagues come to life and attract fans just like the A-League does. And the Football community trusts the FFA a lot more than it will ever trust any one self-serving football club. Now that the FFV has got the full backing of the FFA, the day of reckoning is getting perilously close if SMFC and Co don't pull their heads in and realise they exist in a new reality where the good of the game as a whole is the only thing that counts. The bullshit is over.

Well written ton.ofbricks......agree whole heartly with you comments. Lets get on with making the game of Football strong and includes the lower tier clubs in the make-up of the 2nd,&3rd divisions etc etc. where you can then have a relegation of winners & loosers just like other Footballing nations have.

Everything you need to know is in that quote. That's right. 44 Clubs cannot be all wrong. They are the ones that carry the FINANCIAL RISK on something the Victorian Federation has designed, differently to all other states. THAT is the crux of the issue. The FFV, the FFA or all of us on this forum for that matter, are certainly not underwriting the risk all those volunteers, club officials are carrying. Here are the clubs. Yep, both big, small, women's, regional etc etc etc Bentleigh Greens Box Hill United South Melbourne Womens Dandenong Thunder Fawkner Blues Sandringham Womens Northcote City Heidelberg United Box Hill United Womens Oakleigh Cannons Moreland Zebras Heidelberg Womens Pascoe Vale North Geelong Warriors Bundoora United Womens Port Melbourne Sharks Gippsland Soccer Assoc. The bullshit is over. They do not have the FULL BACKING of the FFA. Read the statement. It is very clear that the FFA feel that it's not their place to interfere, but that ALL PARTIES need to talk. To date the 'rebel clubs' have made any number of suggestions - and the FFV has refused to change. Interestingly (although it doesn't fit your anti-ethnic-club rant so I expect you will ignore this point), local councils and the Parks and Leisure Dept have said the same thing as the clubs - that they have made suggestions and asked for changes but have been ignored by the FFV. Blame numerous clubs rather than a single federation... Seems a bit myopic. Blame numerous clubs, several councils, and the Parks & Leisure Dept rather than 1 federation... Really? Seriously? It appears to me that you are so blinded by your longstanding issues with SMFC that you are looking beyond the bigger picture. By the way, I note you keep coming back to SMFC - one club out of the 44 who are now involved in this dispute. It's interesting that you seem to believe that South are a more powerful and persuasive influence in Victoria than the federation itself. If you take off your blinkers you will see that the FFV is driving the wrong way down a one way street - and that you are trying to tell the other cars that they should just get off the road.

Great point Troy,
Try count up the multiples of Volunteers associated with all those 44 clubs? then look at the volunteers that have worked to get the clubs to where they are now. Someone should do the maths!! they are the legion that the ffv is taking on, there are only around 70 of them and they wouldn't have a comp to administer without all the clubs. How far are they prepared to push against that many people?

the rebel clubs should stop whinging and look to the future, they are screaming because their power base is shrinking and their argument is politically based nothing else. there are some good business people involved in the FFA model and if they believe it is good why the argument? those rebel clubs should put their egos aside sit down and talk, the NPL is the future and the rebel clubs should learn from the mistakes made in the past. stop living in the past and look to the future

Trying to figure out if you're dumb or trying to be funny... Of the 42 clubs that played in the old NSL - only 12 were in Victoria. Of the 12 in Victoria - only 5 appear on the list (6 if you count Moreland Zebras as an extension of Brunswick Juventus). As for the addition of the Women's teams on the list - if the FFV are going to keep referring to the 43 applicants for the NPL, which include all of these women's teams - then it's fair for them to be listed in those standing down.

There are some very good business people involved in the FFA model - if you were paying attention you would note that the clubs AGREE with the FFA model. It's the FFV model, which provides fewer opportunities to raise the required income) that the clubs are wanting amended. Don't be another sheep following the line that this is agitating for the status quo - the clubs are all in favour of the FFA's recommendations - it's the FFV's execution of them they are complaining about. And again, not sure how you've missed it, but these clubs have all tried to sit down and talk to the FFV, but the FFV won't make any changes. Edited by Benjamin: 3/8/2013 11:30:52 PM

Court actions looks likely for Wednesday Clubs will then ensure the FFA Version of the NPL RECOMMENDATIONS ARE IMPLEMENTED by either working with the current FFV board or by replacing it The current proposed ffv model is 80% SUMMER LEAGUE PROGRAM and 20% NPL FFA

You used to suffer from selective memory loss, it now appears you also have selective vision loss as well. The article you commented on comes under the clearly visible and self-explanatory title: FFA backs FFV in NPL row [FFT Article]. If that's not full backing, what sort of backing does your selective mind call that? Half backing? One quarter? No backing at all? Still leving in denial? chris wrote: Court actions looks likely for Wednesday Clubs will then ensure the FFA Version of the NPL RECOMMENDATIONS ARE IMPLEMENTED by either working with the current FFV board or by replacing it
This is one of the few times I make the time to respond to one of your posts, but your naivety is beyond funny chris. I'll type this slowly and in bold in the hope the penny might drop this time. The clubs are not taking anyone to Court. All they'll be doing is asking the Court to issue an injunction to stop the NPL process until some legal arguments are heard.Clive Palmer with all his billions tried something similar and failed miserably. So good luck with that and just remember before your chest caves in from all this chest-beating, your club is arguing that the FFV is not following the FFA guidelines and the FFA is saying that it is. That's called "you don't seem to have a leg to stand on" when you apply for a court injunction, so stop big-mouthing and beating your chest for nothing. Grow up.
