Paartalu would make sense, seeing as they have lost all 3 DM's from last season.

It's a stretch to call Paartalu a fringe Socceroo.

Won't be Sarota. He's been scoring for Utrecht in their friendlies and from all reports holding the midfield together pretty well.

I'm re-hijacking the Paartalu rumour as I'm still claiming I posted it first.

Would prob only try and come back to united even for less money then in other places. Guy loves united still more then other ex united players.

So toohey from the telegraph reckons paartalu and jets have agreed terms but the Thai club playing hardball on the release. FFA may be getting involved

I would have thought MV would find room for him if he were available and that he'd be looking to come home to us before looking elsewhere tbh.

Rumour was that jets offered him 125k a season, can't remember who broke the rumour tho

We have no room though. Valeri,Milligan,Broxham and Mahazi comfortably fill our midfield positions unfortunately.

Yeah I know, I was more in the line of thinking that if he was looking to come back we would have made it happen before getting Valeri. As good as Valeri is I'd be devastated to see Celeski playing anywhere else tbh, he's probably my favourite MV player over the years.

Really? I really, really do rate him.

Watching him train with the squad last year, they seem to hold him in such high esteem. And he looked a class above in said trainings I saw him in. He's so versatile - could pretty much come on and play in any position you needed him to. A player with his kind of CV, assuming he was cheap (which I assume he would be seeing as though he's a bit of a journeyman) can IMO not be too bad a signing.

A player with his kind of CV? What playing for half the teams in the comp, mostly on one year deals and failing to do enough to ever get a long term contract? He was a kid with a bit of talent, but little application and no consistency. Journeyman squaddie. That's all.

Celeski really isn't that much better, but did at least nail down a starting position for much of his career thus far. Limited player though.

Agree 100% in regards to Ward, he's a dead set list clogger.

Could not disagree more when it comes to Celeski though, he was one of the best midfielders in the league before he did his ACL and although it took him time (a few seasons) to recover from the injury, his form under Ange was brilliant, he was easily amongst the best centre mids of the comp and I believe he even topped the league in completed passes.

One's an average journeyman passing through club to club who never lived up to his potential , and the other has twice demonstrated that when injury free he's one of the best deep lying play makers to grace the league; the comparison does not even run close.

I had never realised how quality a player Celeski was until watching some highlights compilation on youtube. Always seems so calm on the ball, and as you said he's a fantastic passer of the ball. Would love to have him on board, especially instead of Ward.

That sounds like bad news tbh, especially with the Jets' urgent demands for quality in that part of the XI?

IMHO The only way they could get Paartalu earlier is if he somehow negotiates an earlier 'mutual-release' from his Thai club contract? It seems possible, in theory, given the time between October and January isn't that long - ending his Thai contract like Oct/Nov instead and joining Jets then suddenly don't seem so bad? :-k

Else-wise they cope with stop-gaps or local options (Ben Kantarovski, the touted Mitch Oxborrow or the like?), waiting it out for the quality re-inforcements mid-season if the local boys can't quite do it? This plays out all the time at clubs in a way, with injury crisis' and co and such a void at DM could philosophically just provide opportunity for Kanta and co? :-k

If we have two spots available we could sign Celeski and then get Paartalu in Jan as Aus marquee

Knowing the Jerks however we will sign Nick Ward and try and make Gallaway a CDM

Hearing that a 20 year old CB (name is Welsh, first name escapes me, starts with an A) that plays in NPL over here is going for a trial with the Jerks. Watched him play several times and he is very good coming out from the back.
