So does anybody know what Jordan have to do in order for Japan getting knocked out?

Tiebreaker rules

1 Greater number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned

2 Goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned

3 Greater number of goals scored in the group matches between the teams concerned

4 Goal difference in all the group matches

5 Greater number of goals scored in all the group matches

I don't get number two. Why would it be needed if a game has been drawn or a winner? A winner automatically has a better goal difference therefore making number 1 applicable. Number 4 means total goals ie: traditional goal difference definition. Number 3 is the same meaning a draw automatically sees goals scored as a tie.

I came in this thread just to ask the question - 'But what happens if Jordan beat Japan?' which may answer the question you're asking.. Is this provision included for when three teams finish on for instance 6 points each and 4th place finishes with 0 they make a new table excluding the 4th place team's results, therefore possibly changing the goal difference?

Interesting that there is no head to head provision there? Why has China progressed as the winner of group B if there is no provision for head-to-head placements????

What happens when all 4 teams finish on 4 points with identical GD??? Do they then draw lots? Where's that provision?

God your gut would have to go for Japan but your hope would be that Iraq would surprise them or even Jordan could catch them off guard.

Would be hard to pick Japan having a bad game with all the quality they have. Could say with confidence they will be tournament favourites again.

I like every team in this group so it's shame they all got put together. Japan will walk it, however Jordan vs Iraq will be huge, both have strong teams on their days. Might buy a ticket for Japan vs Iraq seeing how it's the day before Australia's game as well.
