Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is set to decide where his future lies on Monday, according to reports.
Manchester United and Arsenal have been linked to the Dutch international in the past, but Tottenham Hotspur and Stuttgart are now favourites.
Real Madrid have accepted the Bundesliga team's offer of £18million plus a further £2million if they make it to the Champions League, but the player has yet to commit himself.
It is thought he wants to play Premier League football, but Spurs will have to match Stuttgart's offer to land him.
He has been pushed even further down the pecking order by the arrivals of Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.

Mark van Bommel has emerged as a transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur, with Harry Redknapp looking for experience to add to his midfield.
At times last season, Spurs suffered from the inexperience of their young squad, which was why Redknapp was pursuing Patrick Vieira this summer.
However, with the French midfielder seemingly ruling out a move to Spurs, Redknapp is looking elsewhere.
Bayern Munich's 32-year-old Dutch star moved to Bayern Munich from Barcelona three years ago, and has long been rated as one of the top central midfielders in Europe.
Van Bommel cost Munich £5m, but Redknapp is hoping to get his man for around half that fee.

More than likely going home to you,MartyB,from what I've read.
also from 4 the game:-
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is set to attempt to sign two Tottenham Hotspur players this week, as well as Spurs striker Darren Bent.
Bruce has been pursuing Bent for the last few weeks, but reports claim that he has his eyes on a couple of his White Hart Lane team-mates.
Out-of-favour midfielder David Bentley is one star that Bruce wants to take to the Stadium Of Light, a year after he moved from Blackburn Rovers.
Harry Redknapp is likely to be keen to offload Bentley, who struggled to get in the team after the former Portsmouth boss arrived at the club.
The other Spurs player Bruce is interested in is defender Michael Dawson, who is also likely to find himself on the sidelines under Redknapp this season.
..be silly to lose Dawson,he's our only defender that stays consistantly fit.

I ordered a strong black man, but specifically said "NOT French".
Oh, Arsenal. Right.

football365... Darren Bent is undergoing a medical at Sunderland ahead of his proposed move from Tottenham.
The Black Cats initially moved for the England striker more than a week ago, after they missed out on the signing of Peter Crouch - ironically to Spurs.
But Steve Bruce has become increasingly frustrated at the lack of progress since and made his feelings known over the weekend.
Interest from the likes of Hull and Stoke has delayed talks, but Bent has always made it quite clear that his heart was set on a move to Wearside.
Now Bent has flown to the north east and is undergoing a medical after the two clubs came to an agreement.
It is now known how much the deal is worth, but reports claim it will be around the £14million mark.
The deal will represent a club record for Sunderland, and will take their summer spending to more than £20million following on from the arrivals of Lorik Cana, Frazier Campbell and Paulo da Silva.

This post coming from the supporter of a team who is actually expected to challenge for the title, yet any realistic football fan knows their team is thin, their squad cover shit, and just in general ridiculously overhyped?
Oh, and I don't like to bite, but absolutely no Spurs fans have made anything of this win other than it makes a welcome change on the first day of the season. :-k

I tip Spurs for at least top 6. Just look at their form in the second half of last season.
