What does COYS mean? :?

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Tottenham Hotspur has applied for funding to help resurrect the plan to redevelop White Hart Lane.

Three years ago Spurs revealed a plan, called the Northumberland Development Project (NDP), to redevelop their ground into a 60,000 seater stadium.

Soaring costs meant the plan was shelved, with chairman Daniel Levy insisting that the club would not be able to afford to stay in the area even if it did not beat West Ham United to the rights to move into the Olympic Stadium.

Despite the Hammers' success, Spurs have not given up the fight and are disputing the Olympic Park Legacy Company's (OPLC) decision in court.

That has not stopped them looking at other alternatives, including the possibility of reviving the NDP, which involves building a stadium on the current site and its adjacent land.

The majority of fans are desperate for Spurs to stay in their north London borough of Haringey, and the club has moved to reduce the cost of the NDP by applying for public funds.

Spurs have applied to the Regional Growth Fund (RGF) for a grant that will help regenerate the area around White Hart Lane, which is one of the poorest in the capital.

Levy said: "We are working hard to make the NDP scheme viable and enable us to stay in Tottenham and redevelop our existing site.

"Public sector assistance for infrastructure and public realm works would enable us to deliver the project and the RGF represents the single most important route for funding.

"Our hope must be that there is a recognition of the real need for investment in the Northumberland Park ward and that this project presents a real opportunity to deliver sustainable long-term, private sector-led regeneration."

It is hoped that the grant would help create jobs in the local area and possibly fund an underground station near to White Hart Lane.

Tottenham MP David Lammy, who has long campaigned to keep Spurs in Haringey, gave his support to the grant bid, adding: "I support this bid by Tottenham Hotspur, which has the opportunity to transform an entire community with the highest unemployment in London.

"The plan to redevelop White Hart Lane is far and away the most exciting regeneration project in London after the Olympics, and it is encouraging that it is private sector-led.

"This Regional Growth Fund proposal will benefit everyone in Tottenham and I urge the government to agree to Spurs' bid."

Skysports.com understands Bolton are considering an offer for out-of-favour Tottenham striker Robbie Keane.

The Trotters are in the market for striking reinforcements after Daniel Sturridge returned to Chelsea following his successful loan spell and Johan Elmander's departure for Galatasaray at the conclusion of his contract.

Keane, who has one year left on his current deal, has admitted he expects to be surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane this summer having fallen well down the pecking order under Harry Redknapp.
The Republic of Ireland international spent the second half of last season out on loan with West Ham but was unable to help the Hammers climb away from relegation danger.

The well-travelled striker has proved a regular source of goals throughout his career which has taken in further spells with Wolves, Coventry, Leeds, Inter Milan, Liverpool and Celtic, generating a combined transfer fee in excess of £70million.

Spurs could be ready to offer Keane as a makeweight in any possible deal to bring in-demand Bolton centre-back Gary Cahill to North London.

Unless Redknapp gets off his wrinkly arse and signs a top striker and a centre back, I'm not too optimistic for the coming season.

Defoe is far too inconsistent, and doesn't perform against the big teams. Our defence is leaky at best, and injury-prone, improvement is necessary.

Despite this, as long as we keep our core players ie: Modric, Huddlestone, Bale, Dawson etc, I can see us getting in the top 5 again. With the right signings, however, we could definitely have a shot at top 4.

Clearly we need to sell before we can buy so i'd like to see Jenas, Bentley, Keane, Palacios and one of the strikers leave.

Seen a lot of people who want Pav to go but IMO a full season and he will show he's pur best striker.

Yeah it's quite amazing how people are still not convinced that Pav is our best striker. They won't realize how good he actually is and how terrible poor the others are until he leaves of course.

He's not some groundbreaking, world class striker but he's way better than the other rubbish we have

Lennon is over-rated. To be brutal i'd rather have Kaboul on the right wing than Lennon. He is quick but can't put a ball in to save himself.

Didn't rate Aquilani at pool but he was sick/injured. He had a decent season last time around so it might be a decent deal for us.

Apparently we're still a chance to sign Rossi, we shouldn't break the bank for him though.

Personally, I think Bale can be replaced, but I would rather keep him. But with Luka, he's a small, agile midfielder that can really do it all. He's even decent in the tackle now. He's irreplaceable.

It amazes me that we have injury troubles at the back, and Redknapp sends Caulker out on loan to a club in the same league as us. What's the point? Might as well keep him and play him every now and again. It's not like Swansea have beter training facilities or better coaches than us.

Agreed. We did fine without Bale for 1/3 of the season. I'd feel much better about or chances next season if we had Bale though. He is exciting to watch.

We can't lose Modric. The team is build around him and he is a part of everything we do going forward.

He will be busy in the backline against top class defenders though at Swansea, so not a bad deal. With him out i'd like to keep Bassong for emergencies.

I hope we don't sell Caulker on like we did with Tarbaat. If we kept him on the books for another year we could be looking at huge profits.
