Last year there were 34 Victorian walkovers, and only 10 for the rest of the country. Why do they bother ?" I'm definitely sticking with numbers for my answer. It looks better if they can show up NSW for teams, even if 15% of them drop out before Match Day 1.

The South Australia draw is in. Dates, times and venues to be confirmed, but does anyone know what the rough calendar is for the Federation Cup? Last year the first round was around this coming weekend, and the website calender still shows 2014 dates.
MetroStars v Salisbury International Campbelltown City v West Adelaide White City v West Torrens Birkalla Barmera United v Unley Old Scholars Port Adelaide Pirates v Adelaide Blue Eagles South Adelaide v Renmark Olympic Eastern United v Modbury Jets Adelaide Olympic v Adelaide Comets Adelaide Cobras v Adelaide Victory Playford City v Sturt Lions The Cove FC v Croydon Kings Apollo SC v Cumberland United Adelaide City v Western Strikers
Raiders - Bye Para Hills Knights - Bye Salisbury United - Bye

Every time I look at the NNSW qualification it irritates me. First that they have more places than SA. That Newcastle will end up with the same amount of spots as Perth and Brisbane. Now that they have change the system so 6 out of 8 teams in the quarter finals come from Newcastle. Instead of 4 and 4.
And this most of all -
The Southern Division is divided into two sub-divisions; Southern Division 1 and Southern Division 2. Southern Division 1 is comprised of NewFM 1st Division Clubs and Zone teams from Hunter Valley Football, Macquarie Football and Newcastle Football, and Southern Division 2 is comprised of NPL Clubs. The Preliminary Round Draw was conducted in a ‘pots’ format, in which competing teams were allocated a number prior to the commencement of the Draw. Pot 1 included Southern Division 1 , and Pot 2 was made up of Southern Division 2.
Teams SHOULD NOT BE PUT INTO POTS. Its a rig. Its not fair. There is no luck of the draw. They want their best teams playing.

At least they didn't set it up so that the NPL teams are getting byes in Round 4. That's something. :P But yeah, because they wanted to split it between North and South, it's just chaotic. If they're complaining about travel, I daresay that the travel from Renmark to Adelaide or Adelaide to Mount Gambier is probably of similar distance, too...

I don't mind the North and South split in the early rounds. The bit that annoys me (and I think what scott21 is getting at) is the Pots used in the Southern pool to ensure at least 3 non-NPL clubs make the last 8. And once they get to the last 8, they have pots to make sure the Northern teams play Southern teams. To summarise: separate into zones in early rounds, but completely random draw.

There's been an update to Brisbane's first round. Brighton Bulldogs receives a draw as Bethania Rams has pulled out of Brisbane's Capital Leagues.

But forfeits are just gonna be a part of Vic since we have the most teams, including shit ones that cbf traveling a couple hours on a tuesday night, and we start before the season starts so we have to register our players earlier.

Is it just Rd 2 being drawn today in NSW, or Rd 3 as well. Will be interesting to see how the draw turns out for the new Wagga City Wanderers State League 2 team and whether any of the stronger Griffith clubs decide to enter despite the possibilities of 6 hour one-way mid-week trips to Sydney.
I was talking to some people from northern Vic about why no one other then the newly merged Cobram Roar bothered to enter the Cup (Last year there were 5 club teams from Albury-Wodonga or Goulburn Valley Leagues), and they all complained about mid-week trips to Melbourne. They also said that the NPL sides GV Suns and Murray United were now taking all their best players and they no longer think they can compete against Melbourne State League clubs. So unless Vic and NSW regionalise their first few rounds I don't think we will see many entries from there anymore and the regions will hopefully get behind the regional Vic NPL/ NSW State League clubs.

I haven't been able to find a list of clubs entered into the FFA NSW competition, not sure how they will do the draw either, I guess all will be revealed in 20 minutes. This is my favourite part of the FFA cup.

In WA six state league clubs failed to nominate for the cup. Despite claiming mix ups with emails, they have been told they cannot participate. Clubs are: Canning City, Dianella White Eagles, Morley-Windmills, Western Knights, Forrestfield United and Quinns FC

Edited by 19-su-58: 12/2/2015 12:51:39 PM On the other hand, the winner of this game won't face another NPL1 side (but will possibly play NPL2 sides Parramatta FC and Central Coast FC). EDIT: I lied  Parramatta FC is NPL1 Edited by aussieshorter: 12/2/2015 01:10:13 PM

The way the draw has worked out, one of the five spots is guaranteed to be a club outside NPL1. Assuming NPL2 clubs defeat opposition from lower leagues, it'll be one of: - St George FC - Hakoah Sydney City East - Bankstown City
