Quote:
WANDERERS striker Tomi Juric has missed out on a contract worth more than $10m to play in China after the Shanghai Shenhua club withdrew its offer in frustration at “silly negotiating games”.
The extraordinary deal, which the club claimed could have ultimately been worth almost $18m including bonuses and benefits, would have seen Juric transferred by Western Sydney in the January transfer window.
It’s believed an acceptable transfer fee had also been tabled, but the contract offer was abruptly cancelled late last week after it became apparent that the striker preferred a move back to Europe.

The Chinese deal, worth a minimum of $3m net per season, was negotiated by Juric’s agent Bernie Mandic, former manager of Harry Kewell, but it’s believed other agents claimed to have negotiating rights on behalf of Juric, currently in camp with the Socceroos preparing for the Asian Cup.
Juric’s father also acts as an adviser to his son, but a senior official at Shanghai Shenhua told The Daily Telegraph that the club had turned its attention elsewhere.
“Mandic negotiated a contract for his client Juric worth equal to AUD$18 million for three years to play for Shanghai Shenhua,” he said. “Unfortunately many other agents get involved in the contract [with a result of] confusion, problems and silly negotiating games.
“So we withdraw the offer on last Friday. We now negotiating with other players. No more Juric.”

Juric himself had told reporters this week that he wanted to try again in Europe, after a previous unsuccessful stint in Croatia before returning to the A-League.
But while the striker seems set to stay with Western Sydney until the end of the season, when he is out of contract, several departures from the club now appear certain once the transfer window opens on Tuesday.
Though coach Tony Popovic stonewalled questions about the futures of attacking midfielder Vitor Saba and leftback Seyi Adeleke, neither was included in the 0-0 draw with Central Coast on Thursday night and both will leave if they can find overseas clubs to go to. Saba is believed likely to return to Italy, where he played before joining Western Sydney last year, having publicly aired his frustration at a bit part role this season.

Asked after the New Year’s Day game if Saba and Adeleke had been told to find other clubs, Popovic would only say that all his players were contracted and that he was “open to all possibilities” in the transfer window.
Defender Daniel Mullen is expected to join Newcastle, in a swap deal with Sam Gallagher, winger Kwabena Appiah has been told he is not wanted at the club, while the future of defensive midfielder Iacopo La Rocca is also in doubt after a dispute with Popovic at the Club World Cup in Morocco.
Meanwhile, it’s understood the flare-up between defender Shannon Cole and a supporter at the end of the draw with the Mariners came after reference was made to Cole giving away the penalty that cost Western Sydney the chance to play Real Madrid at the Club World Cup.
Security guards had to intervene to separate the pair, in a sign of the fractious air at the club.

So when do WSW get there prize money from the CWC and ACL ?

This club is going to the dogs how can you set yourself up for the future going bottom of the table ??????????????????
surely we will see some big signings in the transfer window so they can continue to romp the ACL year after year and be a massive aussie club in 10 years time lol

Nice story but they would have looked at WSW table position and worked out he isn't that good.
If Juric had won a game for WSW it would still be on.

http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2015/01/02/10m-juric-deal-scuppered-family-interference?fb_ref=Default&fb_source=message

When you read this it says too much interference from his father.

The only thing I can think of is they are expecting success in the Asian Cup, but I still doubt they could match a deal money wise. Juric isn't consistent enough to get a good contract at a good club. He may get a shit contract at a good club or a good contract at a shit club.

For me it's a gamble.

Very difficult to make any big signings when limited to a pathetically low salary cap for nearly the entire squad.

haha bahh fuck me. Worse thing is they can't win shit in this ACL either i doubt Covic can stop every single goal.
What a perfect opportunity for this awesome club to step up and be Australia's biggest club. What's alarming is how fast it came apart

The same restrictions for the other 9 clubs, and the very same restriction they had when winning the ACL a couple of months back.

Reality is, the wanderers squad has had such success the determination is gone. The first team needs a complete overhaul.

funny as he turned down a chance to play in Europe before the start of the 2014-15 HAL season.

Gonna be one of those things we look back on and wonder what if.
Now, if he gets a top European club and becomes a sensation our resident experts on all things that make for a good career move here will say "good move" and "I told you so", but if he disappears into oblivion we'll have the same people say he should have taken the money.

Funny enough if he Goes to China and disappears into oblivion everyone will say what a bad move it was and should have resisted the money for a career move to Europe.

Good Luck to him, what ever he does

That a point, Shanghai Shenhua are just a mid table team in china, no ACL games to see Juric play

Are you all there?

I reckon Juric is okay but it's hardly slanderous to suggest that a striker for the bottom team in the A-League with only two goals next to his name this season might not be that good. Time and time again strikers in the HAL have proven they can't cut the mustard, lacking the consistency to make it overseas. Juric has a long way to go to prove himself and suggesting as much commonsense, so get your hand off it.

And as a broader point, I think Juric is a classic case of a player trying to move too early. Looking at his wiki he has 12 goals from 32 games in the HAL. Strikers in the HAL should be banging in 15+ goals a season if they are looking at playing in Europe. It continually disheartens me to see these decent young players moving before they are ready and inevitably wasting a few years on the bench of an overseas team.

This

And even if the deal was only for half of what the article says it would appear Juric has been very poorly advised by someone, presumably other than Mandic who it seems negotiated a fantastic deal for him on face value.

Legit think he should go to Scotland. Just the kind of player that would succeed over there. Has got results playing compact football with most of his team behind the ball and is well rounded enough to play in different systems.

Rangers for example will be coming up next season and will need cheap but effective players. EDIT: just looked at Rangers' strike force and there's no way he's get much of a go.
