Gombau is wasted with the Olyroos. The players are already fully developed by the time they get to him. And have suffered through years of hopeless coaching. He should be coaching the u16s instead of Vidmar from the end of the tournament.
None of these junior national teams are full-time positions. So long as schedules don't conflict there's no reason he couldn't do both.
And if we get knocked out of world cup qualifying by Krgyrzstan then heads will rightfully role. Decapitated the lot of em (coaches).

At least we can't blame this result on Okon.

kyrgistan was a poor performance from what I saw. They game against thai we looked pretty good I thought
There have been plenty of bad results against minnows at youth level as well as good results against strong nations over the years for them to mean nothing about senior careers or the prospects of the players. Results are very deceptive at youth level

+x+x+x+xswitched off when we went 3-1 down Gumbao teams usually struggle the first dozen games he is in charge but he nonetheless gets heat. gombau is not the coach he definitely must be involved though because they have looked a lot more organized than an okon team in spite of last nights result That's because they also have a new coach Ufuk Talay. I've seen Gombau's name been thrown around here a lot including for the u-16/17s. He is coach for the olyroos and that's it. It's a full-time job just like u19/20s is a full-time job as is 16/17s. The person in charge of the whole set up is Peter de Roo with direction from Ange. As for the u-19s it's a poor result and they got shown up. Hopefully they can bounce back. The u16s are going to find it very toughto qualify after that loss. They were really poor against Kyrgyzstan, it's probably the worst game I've seen this group play. Whilst the win was bad what was more concerning was the way they played, they really struggled against Kyrgyzstans pressure. It's a good lesson though so hopefully they can still get through. We can still make it but need results to fall our way a bit. Need at least a win against Vietnam but if Kyrgyzstan beats them as well we are in for some trouble. Hasn't Gombau been sitting on the bench for the U19's?

How many games do the olyroos play inbtween Olympic years ? 1 or 2 ?

the Joeys coaches told the boys they are on a mission to fail and just overall seemed scared to do anything. they weren't happy with the possession build up, 10/8 were in good positions but werent getting enough ball and playing forward. they were angry but no individual players were blamed. big big match against Vietnam at 12:30am Sydney time - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOG8yeCsV4M. if we get a win, we have a good chance of still making top two. as always best of luck to the boys. we need all of the squad switched on today and some new tactics. first match we had no idea how to break down their defense and the GF wasnt much better. this is not against our forwards but coaching tactics but the constant throw-ins to them pointless. would much rare prefer we maintain possession by passing to the open man and try to build the play. would also like to see some forward runs even without the through ball to make space in Vietnam's defence. im not sure if the kid still has it but one of our midfielders, played striker until he got moved at the COE and from his couple of youtube clips, Bafford looks like he was good. almost opposite to Roberts and Moric with his height but he's fast, technically good, seems like an aerial threat and loves playing within the box. doubt it will happen for a number of reasons but he and Najjarine up front together with Brook sending in some quality balls, imo would be a whole new game for Vietnam. we've played Vietnam 2x in last month, they know exactly how we like to play and we know exactly how they play to so no excuses.

+x+x+x+xTriangling at it's best. Needs more 'effective body shape'. Shut up, you contribute nothing. Cheers. Triangling aside that was a beautiful 4th goal by the Thai bloke. Composure in spades and a beautiful chip finish. I don't know what the fuck you mean by triangling. The Thais played well better then us in this game, I think the guys hit bottom and looked a bit flat. They will be better next game, not taking anything away from thr thais, they played really well. Dear oh dear, triangles and diamonds Mr Moops. There's a bloke round these parts that might be able to help you out. Ooops another goal.

Thai are our nemesis! THB we should be clear, but this isn't great and the french are investing in Vietnam and Cambodia like they are colonists.
