One of the CBs beat one player and chipped a ball over the top to the winger who cut inside and played in the goalscorer, who slipped it passed the keeper. Nice goal.

I've kinda thought our new australian style is a bit like a Loew's modern german style with a bit of spanish thrown in. Maybe with a bit more intensity and physicality in defense.

We've had 12 shots on goal. They've had 3, at half time.

They've stacked those last two lines, giving us more time on the ball further back, resulting in us struggling to find space in their defensive third often.

Someone else said the passing has been sloppier than against Cambodia. They've squeezed intensively within a half press. It means they've broken up more of our play in our attacking third.

Also, Singapore has become far more physical in the style of football they play. They have money, so they may be importing more coaching expertise from Europe.

Building up from defence to attack, there is constant opening of diagonal passing lanes for the Joeys, which is good. There are just about no balls hoofed up into the mixer, like the old days.

Singapore had a good spell around the 30 minute mark, where Aus had no shots on goal for about 10 minutes.

I remember watching sbs back in the day with Jonny warren predicting us to one day have a unique blend of playing because of our culture being such a blend of all different cultures and the Australian competitiveness.

That Joyce kid in last years joeys (I think) was a bloody good finisher too.

Singapores finishint has been very strong even though the rest of their game is week

Belgium had a very high implementation/compliance of their curriculum and far more established and existing youth pathways to get to where they are after missing euro qualification 10 or so years ago. They are now a top ten team and have a team which on paper could challenge for a World Cup.

I'm dreaming, but hopefully we will have a top 10 team in 20 years time.
