Best thing I sense is not one off the boys are complaining. I guess that's why their in the team. Hats off to all off them and all family members and any Australian should be very proud off these boys.

Thanks for the updates mate.:)

I cannot remember which player was your son, but I've looked at 1v1s for the full backs and CBs in this last game, if you are interested.

It is nice to see theJoeys play the style of football they are. It should put the naysayers out of future discussion.

Our biggest issue in senior football is that even though the players are developing in almost every way, most have limited technique to go to the next level. This generation have the skills to go to that next level.

Wasnt able to catch last nights game and i understand the stream was interrupted but did we have to do much defensive work and if so how did we look?

The CBs contested 13 duels in the 65 minutes I was able to watch on stream. They won 11 of these duels, namely heading, strength and tackling duels.

The full backs contested 12 in the 65 minutes. They won 5 of those 12 duels. The biggest problem was being dribbled around on 4 occasions.

The stream was poor quality. There could've been a few occasions where if the CBs and FBs changed positions, the player playing out of position was evaluated.

In terms of shots on goal (including goals) the Joeys had 16 shots to Myanmar's 2 in those 65 minutes.

This is the best ratio the Joeys have had in the tournament so far.=d>

Tony is the head coach but didn't come to Cambodia I'm assuming he stayed back with the current 17 joeys.

What has impressed me is the urgency to win the ball back when lost and then the ability to keep it. I understand that this can look easier against a lesser opposition but impressive none the less. Also the attacking mentality. I can't wait to see these boys in 12 months time.

I know what you mean about the difficulty with the quality of the stream and identifying the players. Those stats are interesting i am a firm believer that this type of analysis can be used to confirm or contradict what you believe you observed especially in ball possession. In ball possession they can identify the type of action the player undertook and if he was successful in completing that action but what they cannot quantify is if the chosen action was the best one available.

I have never used stats to look at defensive play as i believe the best defenders position themselves so that a pass into their zone is rarely an option so they often have far less work to do.

I will be interested to see how the numbers look compared to a subjective opinion if we get put under some pressure .

It is tough every 2 days and last night before the game the humidity and heat were horrendous and was 3.30 hottest at of the day.

Also, keep in mind that there have been some Injuries plus 4 sick kids that have had a few games out and should be back tomorrow. At least we will see some fresh legs and some other boys be able to chill until the finals.

All will be in order from tomorrow I think

My son lost 3.2 kg in last night's game. Although we are all talking about how hard it is IMO it's the best experience they could have first up should toughen them up mentally.

Wow?

3.2kg.

These games will stand them in good stead as they age. A lot of European nations are soft when it comes to playing in unfamiliar conditions.

Look at how Belgium played in the WC and how they play in Europe.

Just watched the full replay on YouTube even with the conditions and high levels of cramp and fatigue setting in they still managed to play some beautiful football. =d>

I love how these kids have the confidence to always play with one or touch to beat the defender of pass through them sometimes the execution let them down but still they are very exciting to watch when they fully click forward and that's the scary part. =d>

And in the past there was always a standout player or two and the rest would carry the rest of the work but this team has no standout players as there are so many that standout including the bench players too.

My concern is fatigue they probably are not fresher since the first game which is understandable conserving they are playing every two days, the most important thing to worry about is the health of the players right now.

But they are going so well and with more training and practice I hope they qualify for the under 16s AFC Cup next year because I think they can only get better.

Barca, I'm struggling to get the full replay on Youtube. I can find nothing on the Myanmar game. There is one that we've seen on Khymer TV, but that doesn't have the part of the game from 23 mins to 48 mins.

Do you have a link?

Search up Australia u16 vs Myanmar u16. or try AFIGTHER GYM OFFICIAL and search for the same game.

I also missed the last minutes of the first half apparently the stream of the video went AWOL too.

Searching back the alumni of this toirnament is pretty promising. Bulut, de Silva to name a few despite our participation being in its infancy. Still need to keep this on the hush as not to blow egos.

One thing this tournament has made me change my mind on something

we should focus on the a league becoming the cheif destination for our players and the majority of our senior team playing here.

the reason is that once a full generation of these players have reached their prime the a league will be as good as just about anywhere in eurppe and it probably benefits us more to have a maximally strong league. It will also mean a lot of players are used to playing with each other

Yeah, I've been thinking that too. The hart part is keeping them.
Some of these lads will be sold for millions before they are 20.

It all comes down to money. We'll never be a big league like the top euro leagues without billions of it. We can however focus on continuing this great young development and feed bigger leagues in the future. And the clubs can receive payments for players who are sold on. The a league can also be a fall back position for players who struggle in Europe. The Belgian system is a good example.

They are not old enough for an a-league side to sign yet. Pretty sure they have to be 16. FFA will keep most of them together at the ais 24/7 .

Haven't watched the games, only saw the highlights. So pardon my ignorance.

What has made people think they will be worth millions? They're playing Singapore, Cambodia etc.

Not saying you guys are wrong or anything, but I don't see why spanking shitty SE Asian nations is anything to write home about.
