+xDid not know the new Joeys coach is former WSW NPL head coach Trevor Morgan. Anyway, they are doing camps around the country in identifying the best u17 talent to form the Joeys squad for this year. With the help of the state feds around 25-30 players have been identified in each federation, so around 200 to 240 players will be in the net. Any news if they will be playing games prior to the AFC Champs? Nothing on the young Socceroos as yet. JOEYS TALENT ID CAMPS GIVE YOUNGSTERS CHANCE TO IMPRESSSome of Australia's best young footballers are being given the chance to impress Australia's U17 National Team Head Coach Trevor Morgan throughout April. Morgan, alongside Australia's U17 National Team Manager Marty Judge, is currently making his way around the nation with the aim of monitoring players already on Australia's national youth teams radar, and unearthing new and exciting prospects from across Australia. Morgan and Judge are running 'Joeys Member Federation Talent Identification Camps' in each state and territory as part of the selection process for the year's AFC U16 Championship, which will kick off in Malaysia in September. Each camp has been organised in collaboration with the Member Federations, and features between 25 and 30 players who have been selected by the respective Member Federation. Players have or will take part in two training sessions plus a training match, and be exposed to lessons in injury prevention, training review, and match preparation.
CONT https://www.socceroos.com.au/news/joeys-talent-id-camps-give-youngsters-chance-impress this is a positive development IMO - Joey's teams, at least over the last decade, have nearly always been dominated by the AIS squad, which as someone pointed out earlier had a relatively narrow selection window. Many talented players that never got the opportunity to be selected for the AIS, then virtually never got the opportunity to be selected for the Joeys. This new process should at least give a much wider selection of talent from which to select the Joeys.

What’s our next upcoming underage tournament?
Would love to see Atkinson involved at U20/U23 level.

Legit so excited about this generation!
First time in years I’ve felt this positive about an underage group.
Arzani, Atkinson, Theoharous, Pasquali, Italiano, Folami... So much attacking quality for a change.
Compare this generations attackers to the one above where Blackwood leads the line every match...

Probably the same LB who played at the 2018 Asian qualification tournament. Mathieu Cordier, WSW youth.

The current u20s batch is quite a promising one, lots of talent in the attacking and midfield areas this time around.
They just to be prepared properly, our youth teams have performed poorly of late but this group gives me hope.

Tough group.
Iraq are the champs from the last edition and South Korea are strong at all levels, Afghanistan are an unknown but at youth level, these minnows as hard to predict.

The last squad we had was a really good squad. Lots of attacking firepower there. If that squad goes. we should be looking at winning the tournament.

Just seen the young Matilda’s are going to play in the AFF Championships, but Is there any news to regards the Joeys or the Young Socceroos playing any games prior to the AFC Championships?
I know they had camps but so far they haven’t played a game this year and with the tournaments coming up later this year it’s quite a worry they haven’t had proper practice unlike the other countries.
