+x+x+xHaving seen so many young players play in the A-League restart - what would your Olyroos (1997-onwards) and Young Socceroos (2001-onwards) squads be if they were picked now?? And there are also several other higher quality overseas based players, whose names escape me for the moment, that also deserve strong consideration over some of your other selections. That said though, both of your teams are reasonable lineups. You can't put someone who has played 3rd tier Spanish football over someone playing in the aleague which is an reasonable competition. Apparently it looks like Danzo might join an aleague team for next season based on rumours too, which club no one knows.

Abdulahi's utility in being able to play defensive mid as well as a wingback makes him an attractive option also, just don't know who to take out for him! The bigger question is whether the AFC u19 Championship in Uzbekistan in October will even run? And if it does run, will the government condone the Young Socceroos participating?

It was close between LLL and Toure. I personally don’t really rate Kuol, really hasn’t shown much in his games, compared to other young talent, whereas Tilio is extremely skilful and has played well in all his senior appearances. I actually forgot about Abdulahi - would probably swap him for Mlinaric or Pagden.

There are a number of International Youth Tournaments coming up later this year but does anyone really see them taking place, or even in the first half of next year for that matter. 1. Which countries would agree to host players from all around the world - and which countries would be safe enough to go. 2. Is it realistic to expect squads and support staff to quarantine both before and after tournaments - and those quarantine periods would necessitate the time away for players from their clubs being so much longer than normal - which clubs would allow that length of absence and would the players even want to go. 3. If both the above hold - how would this affect our squad selections and the squad selections of our competitors.
I'd love to have some youth tournaments to follow at the moment (I'm locked down in Melbourne) but I just cant see it happening for a while yet. Or am I missing something?

Canada, Germany Finland perhaps? 2 Given the circumstances, yes, but I think the'd do intense testing. 3 You'd probably see around 30% or even more affected due to their base and willingness. Australia really should bid for the youth tournaments after we hopefully host a great WWC.

Watched the first half of the SFCY V NSM Game and Wow! Sydney looked so lethal. Patrick Wood, looks to be a proper talent! It's just so good to see Australian youngsters playing with such a high level of quality. NSM aren't even that bad as well even though they are last, I've been impressed with some of their players in the last few weeks. they have a very young team too, their CM (Caspers) is only 16, but Sydney just had way too much extra class which you would expect from an AL set-up.
WSW Youth also put in a very admirable performance against a much more stern opponent in APIA. But they are nowhere near the level that SFC are, just in terms of the way they move the ball, their confidence to dribble and even physicality.
Even CCM Youth are playing some very attractive football albeit a level below. They've scored something like 15 goals in 4 games. Newcastle are struggling significantly with the step-up from NNSW.
All in all, I've been quietly impressed by the play of the AL academy sides in NSW, can't wait to see more.

I know

Peupion’s move to Brighton underlines the importance of international tours for our youth teams. Both Peupion and Nicholas Bilokapic (Huddersfield Town) scored moves to big English clubs based on being scouted in the Joeys’ UK tour last year, while Adrian Segecic got a trial at Ajax after being seen in Sydney FC’s youth tour to the Netherlands last year. We need more international exposure for our young talent, who time and time again have proven they can compete with European youngsters.

Wood after his feats against NSM has got 7 goals this season and I think top goal scorer in NPL1, not bad for a 17 year old. With regards to the AFC U19 Championship will this still go ahead? Surely this is some doubt with Covid-19 whether this should go ahead or not.

+x+x+xNot sure if its too soon for him but 17 year old striker Patrick Wood scored 4 goals against the North Shore Mariners in NPL1 NSW tonight. And Adrian Segecic (2004) scored his first goal in 1st grade. Promising signs for Sydney FC and Australian football, hopefully Sydney FC actually bring these players through into the first team. 15 year old Mostofi scored for Sydney FC in his first game in first grade. Wood after his feats against NSM has got 7 goals this season and I think top goal scorer in NPL1, not bad for a 17 year old. With regards to the AFC U19 Championship will this still go ahead? Surely this is some doubt with Covid-19 whether this should go ahead or not. Dave Lewis in his article on TWG about Hosine Bility has said the tournament is cancelled. I was watching the SFC NPL game; Mostofi scored within maybe a minute of coming on. Looked easily up to the level overall too, physically and technically.

It's so good being able to watch these players on NPL.tv live or on demand. I've been watching SFC U20's and WSW U20's and yep I have to say Mostofi and his U20 strike partner Clayton Taylor are two stand-out under age strikers. Mostofi and Taylor are apart of the newest bunch of Joeys. https://footballnsw.com.au/2019/07/15/ten-nsws-youngsters-selected-for-joeys-squad-for-2019-aff-u-15-championship-in-chonburi/From this tournament, we've since seen Mo Toure (AU), Bernardo Oliveira (MC), Adrian Segecic (SFC), Jake Girdwood-Reich (SFC), Josh Rawlins (PG), Aiki Tsukamoto (PG) Aiden Mostofi (SFC), Ethan Cox (AU) and Alessandro Lopane (WSW) all involved (or would have if NPLV was on in Bernardo's case) in the NPL seniors of their respective teams.. a year on. Not to mention the other 15/16 year olds playing for other teams getting exposure to senior squads, it is invaluable experience.

The next Joeys group will be interesting, good attacking talent by the sound that list too.

The AFC u16 and u19 to be held this year have been moved to early 2021, sensible decision in the end.
