thailand better in h2 and forced 2 mistakes playing out the back

2nd half the game kinda died after 60min. 2 drinks breaks, lots of cramps. Thailand gave away a pen and a red card

We were good enough to threaten in the middle which forced thiland to defend narrow, but our wingers werent effective enough to take advantage of the space. Opposite of older teams where we overrely on the wings.

Still thailand usually make us look 2nd rate at this level and we were unlucky not to win.

Hope for an improved performance.

anyway our wingers look more dangerous this game so hopefully more joy in front of goal

been happy with what I've seen. But we have to score before 60 minutes because I think these kids will struggle to last 90 minutes in this heat. The game died at 60min last time

well while there is a break I think the defence has looked a bit shaky both games but has been rarely tested

the olyroos had 60 shots in 3 games for 0 goals and so far 3 halves of football for no goals. With the strange exception of the current socceroos, our finishing has been poor for a while

the chances we create are really eye catching at youth level the last few years

we often also look much better against stronger opponents

tatu drives into the box and scores a screamer 1-0

well we score the hardest chance of the half, so no issue in the end. Away games in heat and bad pitches against blocks are just hard, even when they grow physically and become more professional so take whatever goal you can take

Positives
1) 0 chances conceded from playing out
2) bold and creative play. Succesful take ons, killer balls, breaking lines with the first touch, beating a presser with first touch

Negatives
1) some really gettable chances squandered
2) defence looks shaky. Malaysia not good enough to turn some dangerously looking balls into shots let alone goals

another 1v1 with the keeper, but the keeper did well that time deflecting it, rebound went to no one because no one was waiting for the tap in

few other half chances

ahhhh we scuff a shot into an empty net from about 15 yards and the defender is able to clear it off the line

it feels like finishing was our bug bear in the golden gen too. The number of shots that hit the wrong part of the foot

the only good shooters except viduka (who for some reason struggled at international level) went overseas before 18. Rogic and mooy were decent too

these days some of the african immigrants are great at finishing, and hopefully some players that go overseas early will be too, a few promising strikers as well....

still I wonder why we find this a challenging skill to develop? 

These players are really creative and skilled though

we are doing brilliantly to create chances with high skill and creativity, but those chances really should be buried

another drinks break and a player down with cramp. Will be lucky to see much football from here if the last game is anything to go on
