It’s caused a bit of discussion within the fan groups but you’d be hard pressed to find a supporter who disagrees with holmans statement. Most don’t believe Roar have taken the cup seriously in the past so Holman is just stating it as it is. Whether Roar as a club would want him to say that is another question, but given most people have moved on from back office management positions I don’t think they’d care ... anything that blames your predecessors maybe lol

well the supporters have been going on about the Club for a long long time. Some posts in that link is damming. Even RIMB who we saw hung in there forever here seems to have gone AWOL as I asked the question sometime ago, he always kept a positive view that was admiral and I appreciated that about him. How many more have departed who knows, not good for football period here for unlike the bulk of supporters abroad they tolerate bad owners and hang in there, sure some would depart but not the core/bulk whereas here we don't have that luxury.

Do any Roar supporters know what happened to Craig Moore as Roar Technical Director?
It seems that in his TD tenure a few decent players were coming through the Roar ranks.
Why did he leave? He has had alcohol issues at clubs before. I've read recently he is now working as a player agent in the UK.

+xBrisbane Roar avoid legal action over ‘jersey-gate’ with apology to Craig MooreMARCO MONTEVERDE | The Courier-Mail BRISBANE Roar have avoided defamation action by absolving departing football director Craig Moore of blame for the club’s embarrassing “jersey-gate” scandal. The Courier-Mail revealed last month that Moore was set to take action against the club following the decision to place him on “gardening leave” for the rest of his tenure by Roar vice-chairman Chris Fong, after numbers peeled off Brisbane jerseys in the club’s embarrassing 3-2 AFC Champions League playoff loss to Filipino outfit Ceres-Negros in January. PASSION:Arnold wants to continue Postecoglou’s legacy Moore, who receives his final wages from the club next week, was publicly blamed and banished by Fong for the jersey fiasco. “We have a football director and the buck stops with him,” Fong told The World Game website. “It was a systemic failure of management in the football department.” Moore’s lawyer Tim Fuller sought a public apology from the Roar, alleging the statements attributed to Fong carried “defamatory imputations” to his client. When that wasn’t forthcoming by the set deadline, Fuller filed an arbitration application on behalf of Moore with Football Federation Australia, claiming the Roar and Fong were in breach of several FFA regulations. Moore was also considering legal options under the Fair Work Act for being “unfairly treated as an employee”. But after “numerous correspondences”, Moore has settled for a confidential deed of settlement in which the club formally acknowledged he was not responsible for the jersey debacle. “Our position has been that the defamatory publications and the erroneous allegation that Craig was somehow responsible for this debacle needed to be corrected,” Fuller said. “I am pleased to say that we have finally arrived at this point. “The Roar acknowledge that Craig was not responsible and have provided a glowing reference that highlights his outstanding contribution to the club and to Australian football in general.” Despite the settlement, Fuller remained unhappy with the way FFA handled the situation. “The conduct of the Roar throughout this matter has been less than adequate. As the governing body, the FFA demonstrated a reluctance to intervene and hold the Roar to account for their conduct,” Fuller said. “This situation has demonstrated that an employee can be ‘hung out to dry’ by their A-League employer – and the governing body displays a reluctance to step in and take action. “Clearly, (that’s) not acceptable for any sport in this country.” A Roar spokesman said the club wished Moore well for his future endeavours. Meanwhile, Brisbane defender Avraam Papadopoulos has had successful surgery on the ankle he broke at training on Tuesday.

December 2020 Paul Lederer Chairman APLReferring to Fong’s mooted move to take charge of Brisbane, Lederer said: “I believe that could well happen. “Chris Fong is a good business guy and very capable. “He loves football and has a lot going for him. He’s financially secure and I think he’d do a very good job.”
July 2023 Danny Townsend CEO APL“That club needs a fresh approach to doing business..... .....money wasn’t needed for a host of changes to be made to the Roar’s image.... Behaviour, strategy, moving back to Brisbane from Redcliffe, building better relationships with the community, building better relationships with the corporate sector, building better relationships with Football Queensland … there’s so much that is low hanging fruit ”
Has the rent at Suncorp dropped all of a sudden ?

The Roar’s cost-cutting has also led to the departure of general manager Ante Kovacevic, who was told his services were no longer required despite him being contracted to the club for another year. Kovacevic, who had been hired by the club’s previous chief executive officer Chris Fong, is set to demand the entirety of his contract is paid out.

Can't believe that the Bakrie group continue to deliver the same dross. Still, I guess they haven't pulled the plug on the Roar yet. Must be an option for them to consider.

The club can't be worth that much. Surely there is an option for a fan led initiative to take over the club.

Brisbane Roar have apologised to Corey Brown and welcomed him back to the club after summarily terminating his employment last August. On August 18 and 19 2022, Brisbane announced publicly that they had terminated Brown’s contract due to “serious misconduct” but never stated the exact reasons behind his sacking. Roar’s initial statement was criticised by Professional Footballers Australia (PFA), and was labelled as “bizarre and misleading” – in announcing its decision to jettison a figure who had made close to 150 appearances for the club. Brown applied to have his case heard by Football Australia’s National Dispute Resolution Chamber and it was soon determined that the Roar’s purported termination of his contract was invalid. With the club entering new management under former A-Leagues players Kaz Patafta and Zac Anderson, Brisbane wished to “correct the public record” and stated that Brown is a “valued member” of the club going forward.
“Brisbane Roar Football Club withdraws its statements of 18th and 19th August 2022 and apologises to Corey Brown for any harm caused through the making of its earlier public statements,” a statement released on Friday night said. Dale Cliff must be gone as well as Fong after this, surely Wonder what the compensation was ?

What a mess. Lurching from one mistake to another.
Can only hope they can get their act together. It should be a club that is very successful on and off the pitch. It effectively has the whole state to itself in this competition and still can’t get things right.

Just two weeks after moving to their new Ballymore base, Brisbane Roar have been forced elsewhere due to a training surface suffering from overuse and a lack of rain. Unhappy with the bumpy nature of their Ballymore training field, the Roar’s men’s squad instead went through its paces on Monday at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre, the Nathan venue that was the Matildas’ base during this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup. It’s expected the Roar will remain at QSAC for at least a month until their Ballymore field – one of the two outer pitches at the Herston venue – hopefully meets the expected requirements in terms of a surface that it is up to A-League training standards. However, Roar chief operations officer Zac Anderson hasn’t ruled out QSAC – which is already the training base of the club’s women’s team – becoming the permanent training venue for the men’s team if the surface at the Queensland Rugby Union-owned Ballymore can’t be upgraded to a suitable standard. https://www.news.com.au/sport/football/ballymore-surface-not-ideal-and-not-up-to-scratch-for-brisbane-roar/news-story/e93bc26f87fc7519765cf0397bd3f016

The Roar have until August 19 to pay close to 12 months of outstanding rent to the Queensland Rugby Union relating to their use of Ballymore or liquidators will be engaged and the company, Brisbane Roar Football Club Pty Ltd, will be wound up. . . The QRU has previously written off unpaid rent from the Roar but has grown tired of the Bakrie Group's conduct.
They are far from Brisbane's only creditors, with the club also known to be behind in Lang Park rental payments and fees to player agents.

Court documents obtained by the ABC show the A-League club's owners, the Bakrie Group, owe the QRU $60,900 in unpaid rent. The QRU's application to the Supreme Court said the Roar was insolvent and should be wound up The matter is heading to court on August 19.

We had maybe three players out with knee, ankle or something else injuries and there was mention of the hard ground they were training on. Might have been a cover to hide something about their training methods but we had enough 'hard ground' plausible injuries simultaneously to suggest there might have been something to it. Matters not - just something that stuck in my head from back then.

An article in the Courier Mail today.
SACKED ROAR BOSS SUES THE CLUB VANDA CARSON A former soccer pro who was sacked as general manager of Brisbane Roar has sued the club for more than $200,000 claiming breach of contract. Ante Kovacevic is seeking $213,750 from the A-League club in the District Court in Brisbane. He alleges he was earning $200,000 a year when new club chairman and chief executive Kaz Patafta told him he was “paid too much and the club wanted tocut costs”. Mr Kovacevic, from New Farm in Brisbane’s inner north, claims he was sacked on July 24 after less than a year. He alleges Mr Patafta, himself a former pro player, had been in the top job for only 12days when he sacked him in a four-minute phone call. He had contacted the chairman to ask why his work email no longer worked, and was given the bombshell news. Later that day, Mr Kovacevic alleges, he received a letter from Mr Patafta terminating his job “with immediate effect”. He is claiming ten months’ pay. Brisbane Roar is owned by Pelita Jaya Cronus, the sports investment arm of Indonesian conglomerate the Bakrie Group. The case is in its early stages with no defence yet filed. No hearing date has been set.

Brisbane Roar is owned by Pelita Jaya Cronus, the sports investment arm of Indonesian conglomerate the Bakrie Group. The case is in its early stages with no defence yet filed. No hearing date has been set. But to be fair, it seems like Kaz Patafta is being open and taking ownership of things that are happening. The following statement from him has just been released. To our dedicated Brisbane Roar FC members and fans, What an exciting start to our season! Thank you to each and every person who attended Ballymore Stadium on the weekend and contributed to a club-record crowd of 3,679. It was a thrilling game as we defeated the Premiership-Championship holders and kicked off the season with back-to-back wins for the third time in our history and first time since 2015-16. Despite this exciting time for the club and some wonderful press stories highlighting these incredible moments, there were a couple of articles you may have read in the past 24 hours that I believe require some further explanation and context. I’ve said from the start of this journey with the club that I am committed to transparency. One article focused on the departure of the club’s former General Manager Football – Ante Kovacevic – back in July this year. First, I made the decision that it was best for the club to let Ante go, knowing that there was risk of litigation – which is now the case. Second, the decision to let Ante go was not centred on financials, as alluded to in the article by the quote provided to the reporter whereby I allegedly said Ante was “paid too much.” While managing costs are naturally important for any club, the decision regarding Ante’s departure was certainly more complex. As with any journey to reshape and rebuild a club, there are people who will not be happy with the direction we take and some decisions made. I do expect more articles of this nature in the coming months given our rebuild is ongoing, and will continue to communicate to you directly with the truth. Another article focused on the relocation of the men’s team from Ballymore to the Queensland Sports and Recreation Centre. I’d like to make it clear that this is a short-term shift in our men’s training venue and a decision that was made in conjunction with the Queensland Rugby Union. The Ballymore field that the men’s squad uses requires some rehabilitation and rest, and we look forward to returning to Ballymore in the coming weeks. The main stadium field at Ballymore that saw a fantastic win by our Roar Liberty A-League women’s team last weekend remains ready for match-use and will see two more exciting games at the venue during November. We thank the QRU for their ongoing support as part of the collaborative partnership between the two organisations. As with any journey to reshape and rebuild a club, there are people who will not be happy with the direction we take and some decisions made. I do expect more articles of this nature in the coming months given our rebuild is ongoing, and will continue to communicate to you directly with the truth. For now, let’s continue to get behind our teams and keep the momentum pumping. It’s going to be an epic night back at Suncorp this Friday, as our men’s team take on Sydney FC. Thank you for your continued and unwavering support of Brisbane Roar FC. Kaz Patafta Chairman & CEO Brisbane Roar FC
