He managed to improve it by the end of the season, yet people will still remember the goal line clearance  Also until recently, Leckie couldn't hit Gina Rinehart with a bass guitar, yet he has almost thirty caps. Difference being that Leckie didn't miss sitters literally every time he laced up his boots.

I do not like a player only skill is that they are quick and just knock the ball behind the defender and run pass them. which is why i prefered people like kruse, oar, burns and borello is they actually got some footwork to beat a defender. Emittedly leckie is finally getting these skills, Mabil has a long way to go.

I've always considered Leckie a far more complete player than flogs like Danning ect who were just pace. However, I see your point.
I like players who can change it up a bit, use that pace when playing off the last man, but can still create chances when they're coming through from midfield.

Mabil can't even get on the park at Midget land. Should have at least been loaned back to United.

Just my opinion but i find Mabil has got more potential as a winger than Leckie, plus he is better in the 1v1s which is crucial.
Good to see him get his first taste of first team football in Europe.

Mail only just made his debut. His time will come, in the meantime he should be in the Olyroos only.
Amini is playing more regularly and can't get a game for the socceroos, so Mabil shouldn't either yet.

What I would like to see: Ryan Risdon - Sainsbury - Spiranovic - Davidson Jedinak Milligan - Troisi Burns - Cahill - Leckie Subs: Federici, Cisak, McGowan, Meredith, Wilkinson, Wright, Luongo, McKay, Mooy, Oar, Rogic, Juric. Get back to playing our high aggressive press that we did so well in the Asian cup particularly with Leckie, Troisi, Milligan and Burns hounding the opposition. Sainsbury back into the team to provide some much needed pace at centre back. Leaves us with lots of options on the bench depending on how each game goes. Guys like Luongo, Moor, Oar, Rogic and Juric can all make a difference off the bench. Mooy, Rogic and Luongo are not as good at BPO as Milligan, Leckie, Troisi etc IMO. Ideally we would play Kruse instead of Burns but he's all we've got. I would've liked Oar in there as his crossing is the best we have which with Cahill on is vital, but he has not played much recently and is recovering from a concussion so not sure in what shape he is. Our full backs are still complete utter trash but lets see what Risdon can do. I think Behich is our best left back and that is saying something, but alas he has not been selected again. My concern is that Ange will go again with the whole 4-4-2 diamond with Leckie up front in the middle and that is just not working IMO.

Agreed. I hope Ange never touches it again. The 4-4-2 diamond thing works well against utter shite like Bangladesh, but no one else. In fact, we'd be better off playing our same 4-3-3 even against the weaker teams to make our players comfortable in the system

Another thing. If we're gonna call up donkeys like McGowan and Risdon for Right back I would've preferred Chris Herd who has played a fair bit there recently for his club and has performed pretty well in the few chances he has had with the national team.
IMO he has more potential than the other two.

Looks like Spira is out, Jedinak and Oar and Burns are pretty short of a gallop and Ryan is probably still injured I suspect as he has not even made the bench for Valencia. In Oar's defence he is the only player who can cross properly so would have him in there with Cahill. So I would hope for: Federici Risdon - Sainsbury - Wright - Davidson Milligan Troisi - Rogic Leckie - Cahill - Oar Risdon ewww. But seriously McGowan is no better. Should be Chris Herd IMO until Rhys Wiliams gets fit. No more of the 4-4-2 diamond shit. Its not 1999. Leckie is a winger FFS.

The Kyrgz did trouble us last time but I can't see the same thing happening at home. Meredith should be winning his first cap also. Not sure about Oar either. If he's playing Ange ball he needs to be playing central. His crossing is terrible. I'd play Troisi on the left. Worth noting Maty Ryan didn't train yesterday either, just a stroll up and down the track apparently. Federici Risdon - Sainsbury - Wright - Meredith Milligan - Mooy Leckie - Rogic - Troisi Juric Juric needs to start over Cahill. Bring on Timmy if we're in trouble. I know I've left out Jedinak, Luongo, Burns, etc, but we need to play players who have constantly been playing.

Trust me when I say that Oar is the only player we have who can cross. And that is saying something.

Thats why I said "and that is saying something" The other options are Leckie, Burns, Davidson and the right back revolving door. Leckie is good getting in behind and crossing along the ground with the outside of his boot that he did in the Asian cup, but thats about it.

I prided myself on my crossing as a left back and sometimes I think I reckon I could do a better job at it than those in the A-league and the socceroos. We are so bad at it.

As for LB crossing, Jamieson would be our best I reckon.

I'd say that restricts his influence too much.
