I think we are more casually racist here than in many places overseas, but we are also less hardcore racist here than in many places overseas.

I think it does come back a lot to our sense of humour. I often find our humour is a lot more brutal and piss-taking than many countries. Which can come across to them as rude or insulting.

We live in a protected little bubble down here and those who pride themselves on labelling Australians as racist usually congratulate themselves on being so worldly and cosmopolitan, but only people who have not seen the world could think that Australia is racist. 90% of the world is a shit place, quit whining and appreciate what we have.

I found Perth to be pretty bad when I was there a few years back, Brisbane not far behind (PaulC being a resident does lift them up a few levels.)

Koreans by far. I have had people stop in the street and just stare. An older woman did it one day and I commented to my korean fiancé that "she is staring at me like I am some kind of negro" just before noticing the two black guys behind her. One looked offended and the other pissed himself and said "he gets it" and gave me a fist bump. The world is a weird place.
