The ABC were saying the same thing even as the murderers of Lee Rigby were standing there covered in his blood and screaming allahu Akbar. Get your hand off it mate, do you honestly think it could be anyone else?

Fun pala fact, before we knew who the attacker in Norway was, I did a quick check on wiki to see how many Muslims lived there. It was someone else that time.

It was probably them this time though, and probably ISIS related/inspired, based on what we've heard so far but yeah waiting for the facts before opening your cakehole is important.

That was a lone gunman and the target chosen was the children of the Danish Norwegian left wing elite so it wasn't much of a surprise as the Danish Norwegian loony right has been growing for years and will continue to do so.

Multiple simultaneous attacks across several locations combining small arms and improvised explosives, possibly suicide bombers - that is an MO that points squarely at one ideology. The only question is whether IS or AQ were the source.

The only surprising thing about this attack so far is that no specifically Jewish targets were attacked. In Mumbai (almost identical methodology) scant resources were used to torture and murder the occupants of a small Jewish cultural centre, the last time France was attacked they went after a kosher deli.

Yeah sure it's definitely that similar "Mumbai style" technique of attack, but that doesn't speak to the motivations of those involved. You're right, it's weird how the targets included a Cambodian restaurant.

No doubt we'll have a much better idea by the end of the day, Australian time, when the morning comes in Europe.

It was a pro Palestinian rally from a youth politically affiliated group (AUF) that got shot up in Norway.

http://www.algemeiner.com/2011/07/26/pro-palestinian-activity-precedes-massacre-at-norway-island/

Quote:
Norway has, however, expressed a willingness to recognize an independent Palestinian State. Approximately 10 days ago, following a July 18 meeting with PA President Mahmoud Abbas, the FM told reporters that it is “perfectly legitimate” for the Palestinian Authority to bring its application for statehood to the United Nations in September. Eskil Pederson, an AUF (Workers Youth League) leader, anticipated that Abbas will seek recognition of East Jerusalem as the capital.

Quote:
the Foreign Minister “was met with a demand from the AUF that Norway must recognize a Palestinian state.” It has been reported that mock “Break the Israel blockade” games were a major activity at the Utoya Island meeting.

An interesting opinion in the comments section

Anyone opposed to Israel will parish from the earth forever. And the sooner the better.

however are you saying its ok to discriminate based on religion?

It's only a definition made by stupid non-science arts majors.

By your definition, nazis would be a race, so would KKK members.

Actual educated people like me know that Islam is a religion that is common in many racial groups around the world, like Arabs, Persians, central Asians, SE Asians, North Africans and Eastern Europeans to name just a few.

To say Muslims are a race is a deeply racist comment made by people who struggle with notions of reality. Please don't succumb to this lie.

Islam, like all religions, is a fundamentalist social and political ideology that should be subject to the same criticism as any other political or social ideology.

You do not have a choice in your race, but you have a choice to be or not to be religious just like your political beliefs.

The ABC will defend it to the nth degree to the point where they find a way to link it to failed western foreign policy

As opposed to a successful western foreign policy? Like the imperialisation of every single fucking country where these people come from  ?

The problem is lack of Imperialism. Germany, Japan, South Korea, these places were all conquered and remade in the way that all good empires have done throughout time. They learned their lessons.

It is the post-modern belief that casualties must be minimised and that winning battles is the same as winning wars that is the problem. Iraq and Afghanistan festered because the West won the battles but did not break the enemy will to fight. That is only done by killing enough men of fighting age, not occupation, rebuilding and sitting around while your soldiers are slowly murdered.

Paris attacks: President Francois Hollande says 'our fight will be merciless'

French president Francois Hollande has addressed the media near the site of the largest loss of life in the Paris attacks, the Bataclan concert hall, promising a "merciless" fight from a unified France.

"We wanted to be here, among all these who saw these atrocious things, to say that we are going to fight," he said.

"And our fight will be merciless, because these terrorists that are capable of such atrocities need to know that they will be confronted by a France that is determined, unified and together.

"France will not let itself be overawed, even if today it is expressing an infinite amount of emotion at this drama and this tragedy which was an abomination and a barbaric act."

Mr Hollande was flanked by French interior minister Bernard Cazeneuve, prime minister Manuel Valls and French National Assembly president Claude Bartolone as he addressed reporters.

He reiterated his statement in a tweet, saying: "Faced with dread, there is a nation that knows how to defend itself, is known to mobilise its forces and, once again, will defeat terrorists".

An estimated 140 people were killed in an "unprecedented" series of bombings and shootings across Paris at the Stade de France stadium and the popular Bataclan music venue.

Mr Hollande has cancelled plans to travel to Turkey at the weekend for the G20 summit.

He called an emergency meeting of his national security council for 9:00am (7:00pm AEDT) on Saturday.

PHOTO: Flanked by his security detail, French president Francois Hollande arrives at the scene of one of the attacks. (AFP: Miguel Medina)

An apparent double suicide bombing struck outside the national stadium where Mr Hollande and the German foreign minister were watching a friendly soccer international between the two nations.

After being whisked from the soccer stadium near the blasts, Mr Hollande declared a nationwide state of emergency, the first in 10 years, and announced the closure of France's borders to stop perpetrators escaping.

That means France is reimposing the border controls that are usually avoided by the Schengen agreement, which allows for unrestricted travel between countries.

Authorities, less worried about people entering France, are concerned that people connected to the attacks may try to leave France.

The powers of police to stop and search people and to raid premises are also being ramped up.

The Paris metro railway was closed and schools, universities and municipal buildings were ordered to stay shut on Saturday. However some rail and air services are expected to run.

"This is a horror," the visibly shaken president said in a midnight television address to the nation before chairing an emergency cabinet meeting and visiting the Bataclan venue.

"We have, on my orders, mobilised all the forces we can muster in order to neutralise the terrorist threat and secure all the affected areas.

"I have also asked for military reinforcements. They too are in the Paris area to make sure no new attack can take place."

One of the assailants mentioned France's intervention in the Syrian civil war to justify the attacks, said a witness who was at the concert venue.

"I clearly heard them say 'It's the fault of (French president Francois) Hollande, it's the fault of your president, he should not have intervened in Syria'. They also spoke about Iraq," said Pierre Janaszak, a radio presenter.

President Hollande's midnight address:

"My dear compatriots,
As I speak, terrorist attacks of unprecedented proportions are underway in the Paris area. There are dozens killed, there are many injured. It is a horror.
We have, on my decision, mobilised all forces possible to neutralise the terrorists and make all concerned areas safe. I have also asked for military reinforcements.
They are currently in the Paris area to ensure that no new attack can take place. I have also called a cabinet meeting that will be held in a few minutes.
Two decisions will be taken: A state of emergency will be declared, which means that some places will be closed, traffic may be banned, and there will also be searches which may be decided throughout Ile de France. The state of emergency will be proclaimed throughout the territory.
The second decision I have made is to close the borders. We must ensure that no one enters to commit any crimes and that those who have committed the crimes that we have unfortunately seen can also be arrested if they should leave the territory.
This is a terrible ordeal which once again assails us. We know where it comes from, who these criminals are, who these terrorists are.
In these difficult moments, we must — and I'm thinking of the many victims, their families and the injured — show compassion and solidarity. But we must also show unity and calm.
Faced with terror, France must be strong, it must be great and the state authorities must be firm. We will be.
We must also call on everyone to be responsible.
What the terrorists want is to scare us and fill us with dread. There is indeed reason to be afraid. There is dread, but in the face of this dread, there is a nation that knows how to defend itself, that knows how to mobilise its forces and, once again, will defeat the terrorists.
French citizens, we have not completed the operations. There are still some that are extremely difficult. It's at this moment that the security forces are staging an assault, especially in a place in Paris.
I ask you to keep all your trust in what we can do with the security forces to protect our nation from terrorist acts.
Long live the Republic and long live France."

I agree people should wait for the facts before jumping to conclusions.

That was a lone gunman and the target chosen was the children of the Danish left wing elite so it wasn't much of a surprise as the Danish loony right has been growing for years and will continue to do so.

It was a pro Palestinian rally from a youth politically affiliated group (AUF) that got shot up in Norway.

I knew you would find a way to blame the Jews. The rally was part of a political camp for the children of left wing activists, Breivik knew this and it was a major factor in his choice of target. Shooting unarmed adults was too scary for him so he deliberately went after children.
