Is there such a thing as leftist libertarianism? I was under the assumption that libertarians are (slightly) right wing.

Of course, the Greens are as well as a number of smaller parties like the Pirate Party and the Australian Sex Party.

"libertarians" are small government and right leaning.

A non-authoritarian leftist is a social democrat. Most of the younger posters on here are this way.

They believe in the social distribution of wealth and social services but also civil libertarians who believe largely in freedom of association, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, gay marriage etc.

A leftist authoritarian believes free speech should be curtailed if it hurts people's feelings, that the population should be culled and people should be restricted from breeding too much and that controversial figures should not be allowed to speak freely or enter the country lest they might hurt a poor soul's precious feelings.

The Greens are definitely not a Libertarian Left party - they have Libertarian values on a very very small range of issues (such as Internet Privacy only when it relates to privacy from government and corporations), but they also advocate extremely Authoritarian stances in the majority of their policies.

Things may change slightly under Di Natale as he is by far the most pragmatic leader that The Greens have ever had, but they have a long way to go to be considered Libertarian.

The closest to a Left Libertarian party in Australia is The Sex Party, although even they fall prey to their Authoritarian SJW base at times. They are doing the best work for personal liberty in Victoria out of any of the parties at the moment, including being instrumental in legislating a buffer zone around abortion centres.

Yes a Social Democrate is centre left. Leftist authoritarian is a communist or in some cases feminist. The trouble with these types is they tend to think centre right people are extremists like the far right.

The Greens are about as far from Libertarian as any party in Australia, old school Stalinists with a hippy veneer.

Leftists are pro-rape when it is one of their own, even someone as vile as Roman Polanski.
