On 1 September 2010, Överåklagare (Director of Public Prosecution) Marianne Ny decided to resume the preliminary investigation concerning all of the original allegations. On 18 August 2010, Assange had applied for a work and residence permit in Sweden.[15][16] On 18 October 2010, his request was denied.[15][16][17] He left Sweden on 27 September 2010.[18] The Swedish authorities have asserted that this is the same day that they notified Assange's lawyer of his imminent arrest.

Sweden is a very liberal progressive country. Assange is a hero in Australia probably because of his white privilege.
Imagine if he was black and facing these allegations. I sincerely doubt he'd be afforded the same sympathy.

Yeah and if he did go outside the embassy for questioning the next we see of him is his name in a record of guantanamo bay ten years down the track.
