For example, I used to play with this weird Italian guy, who had this ridiculous theory on throw ins. Ifs there wasn't a simple option down the line for him (he only threw down the line, because going backwards was too dangerous and would concede ground) he would throw to the opposition, because that way we couldn't lose the ball in a more dangerous place. Bare in mind that he would only ever throw from a standstill, so he couldn't throw the ball very far anyway.
So literally, if you were square of him and unmarked, he would throw it down the line to the opposition. And he actually used to try and justify it that way.
