we're within striking distance of the serbs going into the 4th period. beating serbia would be incredible so much talent on that team.

so proud of the boys they showed a lot of heart today. Credit to lemanis for the good job so far. I've been on his arse for awhile now about his coaching performances. But it looks like hes got the team playing the way he wants. Our defence has been relentless and we're starting to wear out opposition as the game rolls on.

So our 4th gold of the games in the womens Rugby 7's. Puts us ahead of the US in the medal tally again just behind China.

One hell of a collapse from Seebohm. Turned at the 50 in first and finished 7th

Stoked to see the girls win the rugby 7s. Well done for beating NZ. Great Addition to the Olympics, super athletic.

Pity that neither Larkin nor Seebohm won golds. Those were two that we were hoping to win and would have helped our medal tally a lot.
When you add the men's relay to that list of events Aus hasn't won in swimming, there's a few we've dropped which we probably had decent hopes of winning.

Say this every Olympics but I wish just once a telecaster would put together a highlights show that shows all the events for the day. Who won what where and when. You know, updates on the pool matches in the volleyball, the men's football, the archery, the water polo etc etc.
I don't even know who is in the men's football tournament.
I don't even care if they put it on at 11pm at night. It'd just be nice to know what else is happening besides the friggin swimming and the equestrian. (Mind you with 3 channels it's miles better than what it was in the past.)
The best coverage was a few olympics ago when 7, or whoever, covered all the popular Australian stuff (75% of the Olympics) and SBS got to cover the rest of the not so popular stuff. IE handball, indoor volleyball, judo, weightlifting, soccer etc.
Bring that back.

+xOur national water polo league ought to be televised. Great sport. Loved the end of the Australia vs Hungary match. After the final whistle someone cracks it... but what do they do... try to push each other under water like kids... i mean they had literally spent the whole match kicking and punching the shit out of each other and now you bring out the handbags.

+xEquestrian is not a sport, why its on 7 every time I look I don't know. Hahah, it has been, traditionally, somewhere we win a lot of medals. Surely the poshest of all sports. Members of the Royal Family compete in equestrian at the Olympics. Although, rowing is very posh, too.

We end up with Bronze in the team equestrian. Great performance.
Nathan Adrian sneaks into the semis of the 100 free in 16th place. Would've been great for our boys if he would have missed out. Chalmers looking like a real medal chance on form so far.

Eight dedicated channels plus you can watch every single event live or on replay online. They also have a highlights show every morning that shows all the important results from the night before and recaps everything for you.

If anyone has a VPN and can access a Canadian server CBC's free online coverage of the games is excellent.

Basically these services provide servers to connect to around the world and once connected all your internet traffic is bounced through it. People use them for 2 reasons: - To anonymise themselves, all the traffic is encrypted to the server so ISPs can't log your metadata
- Getting around GeoIP blocks (as we're doing here)
Others will have alternatives but I've settled on ExpressVPN. They're a bit more expensive but you get what you pay for from my experience. If you're interested in them I can PM you a referrer link and you and I can get 30 days free. Planning to use it to watch the odd EPL game via Star Sports India as well.

Katie Ledecky once again just ridiculous, first since Shane Gould to do the 200 and 400 double. Emma McKeon with a great swim to get the bronze.
Credit to Bronte Barratt too, 3rd and final Olympics and she finishes with a PB

Phelps gets his 20th gold medal. Only male swimmer to win Olympic gold 3 times in the same event and he's done it in 3 different events.

With the focus on swimming, has anyone seen or read Christos Tsioklas's Barricuda? It just finished a week before the games
Its an indictment, and an unglamorous portrayal of the world of sport, especially the culture inside swimming
What more- What happens when you lose? Danny Kelly (the main character) came fifth in a crucial trial and did not even figure in the record books

Sevens coverage has been deplorable. The constant ads, interrupting live sport so some talent-less hack can talk in the studio, useless commentators ie fuck off Basheer & Speed. Advertising Live Sport but showing delayed coverage of the fucking Matilda's on 7two, the other night on 2 of their 3 channels they were showing Equestrian ffs and the app is useless.

Downloaded the 7 app but you are right it is rubbish. Currently streaming the archery via some dodgy stream via the BBC. Just straight uninterrupted coverage. Great stuff. Some German just nailed 3 x 10's.
