Memberships for Wellington should be all important to their survival according to FFA metrics. So its baffling why management haven't been proactive in offering all sorts of deals to get new members.
How hard would it be to offer discounts off pizzas or lamb?
:)

I think their memberships are one of the cheapest in the league. I saw them and the CCM twitter page bantering as to which had the cheapest membership. Shame it doesn't seem to be making much difference. Have no idea how the club isn't running on a hard loss. They must have some very good rental deal with the stadium.

Excellent effort considering the dire effort on the pitch last year.
Puts some of the other clubs to shame tbh

Can anyone comment on how Kiwis approach sporting memberships in general? I imagine because of the popularity, that union memberships would be high. How do the other major sports fair in NZ in regard to memberships though? Is it a Phoenix/football issue, or a cultural thing with the Kiwis.

A contributing factor to the Nix would be that Kiwis probably aren't too interested in supporting their side play in an Australian comp. How would that appeal to Kiwis?

@ Lookatmooy

The one match membership is the workaround for the dumb rule that says only members can stand in active areas. The result is clubs started selling one match memberships to active areas.

If they try to pull that off and add to their membership tally that will be an all new low for the way memberships even work. Basically anyone buying a ticket for the game will be a "member" now all of a sudden we'll probably see their membership figures rise to 25k+

If they have used this sort of deceitful tactic in the past, it's no wonder they seem to have double Syd fc members yet a smaller average crowd attendances. Seems they are picking up the bad habits from GWS...

Yes wanderers members are fake according to Davo lol.

Davo i think you need to settle down, you are jumping to a heap of conclusions. Its is a work around to make sure Wanderers active end is as full as possible.

How dare you compare us to that Rabble in GWS, fuck me dead thats low lol.

Hahaha I may have over reacted, especially with comparing WSW with GWS, it shall not happen again. And after reading the article I understand it's to get around the stupid rule of members only in active areas. However i hope they don't try to add it to their official tally. Otherwise it undermines the stats and makes them somewhat useless for comparison to previous years.

A massive jump this past week. ANd we are now officially at a higher number than we were in round 1 of last year and in 13/14. And believe it or not we may even crack 14/15 record by round 1. Quite an achievement all things considered.

Big increases from Victory, CIty and Adelaide especially.

All in all everyone went up by quite a margin. No club did poorly. Obviously with the launch of the A-league it was to be expected but still great to see. Even lil old Phoenix got above the 50% threshold from last year. Still shocking but at least they got a good kick along in the past week.

Have no issues with the 5 match memberships, that's more than 1/3 of the season and it can slide. But 1 match would be farcical to add to the "membership" tally.

Pretty much every club up. Damn good.

Yep except for Wellington, Sydney and Victory.

Victory and Sydney were always going to be lower this time around as last year they were both off the back of making grand finals whereas struggled last season.

Wellington? Didn't realised it was possible to go more backwards, but there's always a first...

But all other clubs doing well.

i completely agree i would like to say the wanderers are not so desperate to do that but maybe the wanderers admin like metrics as much as the ffa like

i forgot that the 1 game memberships are just to allow extra people into the RBB, i very much hope they dont count them because yes that is GWS ish but i agree i would love to see a breakdown of them too

On the demand side.... first round of the season.

On the supply side... gotta haul ass to get those applications processed before round , lest you want some unhappy campers

Mv's a bit disappointing so far considering the goal of 30 was set. You'd think they will only get a few thousand more.

Looking at the figures Melbourne Victory's loss is Melbourne city gain. Amazing that city has signed all its members before the season has started. The balance has swung in melbourne to city side.
