LOL at Q&A last night.
most ridiculous episode ever. The only sensible part was a question from a young chap in the audience about bill Leak and people expressing joy over the poor man's death because they perceived him to be "racist" for telling the truth.
Then the panel went into a tirade about not offending other people through free speech (in Leak's case cartoons) and yet its ok to offend the poor man's mourning family and children.
Wow! never seen anything like that.
if this is our humanity now, then I pity humanity.
The rest of Q&A was also drivel. Mem Fox was extremely lame. never seen anyone as lame as that especially when she went on a stupid tirade about being pulled out of the line by US Border Control for questioning over her VISA and using that episode to depict a scene of Germany's Gestapo SS in order to hit out at Trump. Get over it. People get pulled out of line in the USA all the time, and even just for completely random checks. And normally they are quite reasonable and polite. it's if you get caught doing something wrong when they start getting very impolite.
Time to threaten ABC with budget cuts methinks. Feel sorry for people in the country that only have the ABC to rely on for their information.

We never use to have this kind of violence in Australia before (other than Cronulla as a one off).
People are just getting more and more angry these days. I worry for where society is headed because it just seems people are getting too polarized for some reason. we are not as laid back as we use to be unfortunately.
this kind of thing was more an overseas issue. Now it's here too and global.

Enormous police presence in the city. Didn't see anything but I heard there was violence at Flinders/Fed Square.

I hate how people say trickle down economics.
the fact is, that if our Company tax rate stays where it is, we will lose thousands of manufacturing and other jobs to overseas. There is no incentive to attract investment and business, and we will go down gradually which has been happening for over 10 years now.
No business is going to set up in Australia unless they are stupid, and we will lose all of our own iconic corporations to overseas tax havens.

+x+xPenalty rates cut on Sundays by Fairwork. Spokesmen prior to the announcement was throwing around lines like "it will increase employment and economic growth for the industries" Jobs and growth FMD lol -PB Basic economic principles (something the liberal party is supposed to be all about) states that the lower and middle classes are the main drivers of the economy. +x+xThose poor people in that flight :( -PB I saw an article on news.com.au about the pilot having a near miss a few years ago. Why must media outlets dig up dirt to make this tragic incident appear inevitable and to question the ability and credibility of the pilot? Accidents happens and its terrible that the grieving families have to see these sorts of articles. All about the clicks. -PB

In 2009 the Lin family was horribly murdered in North Epping, directly across the road from the field I've played football and basketball on with mates and literally (and I mean literally) next door to the church a few of my uni classmates went to. Their uncle, Robert Xie, took over the family's newsagency in Epping, behind the Epping Hotel, where he served me a number of times, including selling me the good old 442 mag. This week, the cuunt got what he deserved, 5 life sentences, never to be released. This is a good week. http://www.news.com.au/national/nsw-act/courts-law/brenda-lin-the-only-surviving-lin-family-member-breaks-her-silence/news-story/c5e9248d8989c5377af148109b5e9d39

+x+x+x+x+xTesla's autopilot has a far lower death rate than both the American average & worldwide averageAnd that's not even close to fully autonomous yet. Then there's Google autonomous test cars, which have had one solitary panel dinting incident 'caused' while in machine operation (which was arguably the other driver's fault), yet having driven well over a million miles and hence a safer record than humans.Evidence based thinking - the antithesis of right wing mentality. A tiny scale of trials is no way to assess the suitability of a transport mode. A left winger with a scientific background should know this...... A rightie who struggles to read properly. No surprises there. odd that nobody really knows what constitutes to be centrist One way to be more central is to bring a counterpoint to the leftists ie gay marriage if we made an island and had all the gay people move there, and give them all the laws that they want, in one generation they would all be extinct  Not necessarily as there would still be males and females on the island. Doesn't mean they would mate haha -PB

+x+xInstead of debating bail Laws we should be talking about the death penalty. Particularly in this day in age where CCTV, social media etc can guarantee you verifiable evidence. Use it when there can be no mistake. I don't won't to get into a death penalty debate as it's been done so many times on this forum, but in this instance I would be very surprised if he wasn't fucked up on ice at the time, so I struggle to see how the death penalty could be used as a deterrence in these instances. Yep

As Turnbull has been finally found out as a politician, Libs are heading for a bloodbath, with two party preferred continuing at 46-54 That said, expect preference deals to be made between One Nation & the Libs, as xenophobia is low enough hanging fruit to get capture votes from the simpletons. http://www.essentialvision.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Essential-Report_170131.pdf

+xSuch empathy from our own Dr Evil... http://www.9news.com.au/national/2017/01/20/15/41/leyonhjelm-defends-controversial-tweetCrossbench senator David Leyonhjelm has defended using a deadly incident in Melbourne to make a statement about guns.Four people are dead and at least 20 have been injured after a rogue car ploughed into pedestrians in Melbourne's Bourke St Mall on Friday afternoon.Four children, including a three-week-old baby and two-year-old were among the injured. A mangled wreckage of a pram found at the scene, with a section of it coming to rest on the car.The Liberal Democrat, an outspoken supporter of gun owner rights who favours easing restrictions on guns, has come under fire for using the incident to suggest it's people, not objects, that kill."Probably one of those semi-automatic assault cars," he tweeted as the disaster unfolded. His comment has prompted hundreds of angry replies, with many calling on him to resign for making jokes about the disaster as families wait to find out if loved ones have been injured or killed.Senator Leyonhjelm told AAP the outrage "only emanates from those who are too stupid to get it"."My comment referred to the 'rogue' car, as if the driver is irrelevant," he told AAP."It's people who commit crimes, not inanimate objects."The same argument applies in the debate about firearms."But his comment angered many, who took to twitter to criticise the senator.Barrister and human rights activist Julian Burnside tweeted: "So ignorant, and in such bad taste. The tragedy is that Leyonhjelm is in our parliament. He disgraces our parliament and himself."Former journalist and commentator Mike Carlton said: "Leyonhjelm is a grub. That is all."Greens Leader Richard Di Natale has called on Senator Leyonhjelm to apologise."This is a tragedy and not the time for crass political point scoring," Senator Di Natale told AAP."Senator Leyonhjelm needs to pull his head in and apologise for his insensitive comments." The sad part in all of this is that tax payers are paying this morons salary. I wouldn't be surprised if he was getting donations of some sort from the NRA. I really don't understand his preoccupation with guns. Using his logic, if guns were legal, then guns would be much more abundant...and you can rest assured the perpetrator probably would have been armed with guns too. He is trying to fix something that isn't broken Reminds me of Victoria, before the introduction of casinos and pokies all over Melbourne. Gambling addiction were restricted to a very small percentage of the population....20 years later it is widespread and has devastated countless families, causing homelessness and all sorts of other problems.

+x+xBut shouldn't people have a choice to use ice?Doesn't the manufacture & sale of ice create jobs & build the economy? Yes and yes. Also makes people more productive at their jobs. Nazi's were all over it IIRC.
