+x+xThe facts are very disturbing for AFL, on the ground here in Victoria, i can tell you I have been going to junior football all season with my kids and have been to a few dual code facilities, on every single occasion, the football pitches had 6-10 games at any time. The 3 AFL ovals were empty, no one. I was in a coastal town St Leonards which would have no more than 5000 residents, the local AFL ground had 4 games of football on it and the facts are I have not seen 1 AFL game around Melbourne all year. So all this cheerleading from all forms of media here in Victoria, AFL is in big trouble in its heartland , they tell us Girls are taking the game up in their droves, I have not seen or know anyone who has seen them play the sport. So this AFL x rubbish is just another smoke screen from the AFL , which the media cheerleaders have run with to continue the myth that AFL is some unstoppable beast. Its even better up here in Sydney. I have NEVER seen an AFL junior game. We don't even see AFL posts up on any grounds at all. Don't even get me on the state of the game in Western Sydney. There is downright hatred for it. Music to my ears. The local tabloid in Southern Tassie has no end of AFL column space. Yet the AFL upper administrative echelons don't think Tassie deserves a team in one of only four states in the world where it is the main football code.

+xChannel Seven's Martin also confirmed he had been presented with the concept and the filmed trial held at AAMI Parkial held at AAMI Park.
The only Vic football stadium that excludes AFL and the Tards merrily let it happen. And no-one said a peep. What would Melb Victory know about it. It's not their stadium. They don't have a say in who can play there.

Desperation +.....I don't enjoy watching AFL .......stupid game......but I do enjoy watching them constantly trying to keep football in check. Sort of like watching the English version of "The Office" ...cringeworthy... but funny....

Yeah, this is going awesome for the AFL already. One article labelled 'Morons, leave the game alone" and now it turns out some guy wants to sue them over it http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/afl/afl-news/afl-facing-legal-action-over-ownership-of-afl-x-concept-20160908-grboco.html

+x+xwell done to the AFL for trying some new for there game...who knows if it will work or not why do you all care so much...if it's not the AFL, it be some other sport FFA needs to just worry about it's self, and keep moving forward , stop worrying about what AFL we are not worried about what they are doing, but they are clearly bothered about football - it's why they're obsessed with preventing it growing. Every Sunday there is a new piece from some AFL affiliated person talking about stopping sokkah. As for 'why do you all care so much' - well if a well connected organisation with a well documented detrimental attitude towards our game is suddenly going to start trying to take the fields are games are played on, then I think it's ok for people to take at least a passing interest in. Lets be honest. This is what its all about. We're entitled little shits when we want our own grounds but now they want the few grounds we have. Roman times.

+xLike Crimson wrote, it is very risky to make a product that will potentially damage their main one.Isn't that what is happening with cricket? Kids like the shorter version? If the x game has more action and scoring and is aimed at kids won't the normal version eventually or quickly seem dull? Exactly. Undermining their own flagship product. Good luck with reinventing the wheel every 5 mins.

+xI cant see how small sided AFL can ever work If you catch the ball nobody can touch you Players can kick the ball 50 meters There is no ceiling to the goal Basically grab the ball from anywhere on the field and kick a goal As was said before reengineer the ball and make it heavier / softer etc so it can't go as far. They did it in futsal. It's an easy fix if they want to go down that path.

That perhaps only certain players can score and from within a designated zone? The trial game played at the weekend between Coburg and Northern VFL teams ended 170-140, so scoring was very easy by the looks of it. They even got 10 points for goals kicked from outside a 40m line across the pitch. They played 10 minute quarters. Did they use official balls? Dont the women use lighter balls so their kicks can go further?

I could give two shits what AFL does but what does concern me is where are they going to be playing matches. Can you imagine games played at AAMI park or SFS. Its bad enough when we have to contend with Rugby and NRL tearing up our pitches during the end of our season and now we have to worry about AFL. If they want to play this sport so badly they can play it at the MCG, put out soccer dimensions on the field and away you go.

+x+x+x+xBy fielding smaller teams and playing on a soccer pitch, he said it was easier than full-scale football to take overseas and may one day form a part of the AFL's international expansion plans. When will the AFL hierarchy stop oscillating their hands up and down their phalluses and forget expansion overseas? I've lived and travelled overseas for years and years and have never, ever read one word about aerial ping pong. The story must have only appeared in SA, WA, Victorian or Tasmanian media. Anywhere else it would be ridiculed. it on EuroSport it's a great idea by AFL, give a way to grow a game out side of Australia where there is no grounds that match AFL size i can see AFL X leagues starting up in many European cities .....but i do feel 7 players is to small, 9 players is perfect AFL x is nore more dumb then European handball, or beach volleyball Lol. Yeah nah fk off mister football. Which european cities? I cant imagine one. People are actually smart enough to recognise a poorly polished turd when its being peddled to them. every European city.....Eurosport 2 it has MLS...be a great if they show A-League
