I think my alternatively branded equivalent is better than the Polar one, so no. If they were on equal standing this form of marketing may have persuaded me to buy the Polar watch. I would buy a standard black band instead of the Sydney branded one but that's not the point. The point is to get more Sydney fans thinking about buying Polar watches.

I don't see how that is awkward. Polar were part of Sydney's very successful fitness program this year. They are just trying to cash in using the reputation they helped develop at Sydney.
