+xLooking back, the big thing missing is a solid DM. We had good results when Milligan and Valeri were holding the spine together. People often underestimate how important Valeri was to the squad. They have been yet to fill that void. Brox simply isn't good enough. When you have inadequate DM's, it puts way more pressure on the central defenders, which often makes them look like they are performing worse than they actually are. Time to re-sign Johnathan Bru imo

I rate Barnett he needs a fair go. Butterfield could do well there too. It's the team selections that are a worry.

+x+x+x+x+x+xPlenty of rumours about rhys williams coming back. Which highlights the major problem with Victory - recycling. All clubs do it. Hell all leagues do it. Our league cops it due to now transfer fees but under the premier league numerous players who get released find themselves at clubs in the lower leagues and end up at their rivals a couple of seasons after Victory do it fanatically.
Thry bring back former players again and again.
Simple question - is it working out?
Muscat will be your new coach within a month. Rinse n Repeat. Lol we've done it only recently. Rojas x3 Kruse x 1 ansell twice and nabs once. Who else did we bring back?? Alsopp in the early years. Add Kosta and Milligan to that list. To be fair, it usually works out well (or at least ok). Haven't been too many return players who have been complete flops. Kosta back to mv was due to his missus hating Wellington.

Considering the serious knee injuries he had, still managed to have a great career for himself :D

I'd rather Marvin Angulo at CB than Shotton.

https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/football/melbourne-victory-rocked-as-board-member-and-former-managing-director-richard-wilson-quits/news-story/1d9cf4d08423504cb74e4c2f2684b796
Melbourne Victory rocked as board member and former managing director Richard Wilson quitsMelbourne Victory has been rocked by another high-profile exit - and the foundation board member had some damning things to say about the direction of the club. Melbourne Victory has been rocked by the sudden resignation of foundation board member, club shareholder and former managing director Richard Wilson. Wilson, 60, has quit effective immediately “as a result of a fundamental disagreement with the chairman (Anthony DiPietro) and the board over the direction the club has taken”. Victory is at the bottom of the A-League ladder and under mounting pressure from a disenchanted fan base. “Melbourne Victory should be the strongest and best positioned club in the league, but its standing has suffered significantly in recent years due to poor decision making from the board, including coach and football team recruitment, which has ultimately led to a deterioration in performance,” Wilson said. “Melbourne Victory has historically been a proud and successful club but now fans are understandably unhappy. Membership has been stagnant for some years and match day attendances have steadily declined.” Wilson’s resignation is the latest in a long line of senior departures from the club, including ex-coach Kevin Muscat, players and senior executives. “There has been a lack of leadership, accountability, poor decision-making, and high staff turnover,” Wilson said. “It’s easy to make excuses, to blame COVID-19, injuries, fixtures and everything else, however at the end of the day, it is the board’s responsibility to lead and that’s something which has not happened for a long time. I fully expect to get push back from the board for taking this position but so be it, my motivation comes from the right place. “I love this club. Like the Victory fans, it has been a big part of my life and my family’s life”. “The decision to resign as a director of Melbourne Victory is one that I have grappled with for some time now but there is no other option. "have reached the view that change has to come from the top, which leaves me at odds with the chairman and the board. This has made my position on the board untenable, hence my resignation.”

"have reached the view that change has to come from the top, which leaves me at odds with the chairman and the board. This has made my position on the board untenable, hence my resignation.” Richard began as a yes man to Geoff Lord, and turned into a valuable member of the board and executive team. A lot of the issues the club is suffering now are similar to when we were under Geoff and Jeff. Anthony's position is untenable, the writing has been on the wall for some time. I've met a few (former) board members in the course of my work, and they all have the same thing to say about Anthony. Too much ego and no commitment. He's petrified of making a wrong move and has stacked the board with yes men again. While we're at it, Jimmy Christo needs to be sacked as well, when was the last time we had a big sponsor who wasn't a shareholder or board member? Was it Samsung? I don't even remember it's been that long.

I'm shocked by the unprofessional pettiness from the club on the matter: The Club is both saddened and disappointed by comments attributed to Richard Wilson on his exit as a director of the Club today.
Mr Wilson is a foundation director of Melbourne Victory, however at this time the Board along with a number of shareholders welcome his exit, which has been the subject of discussion for some time.
The Club now has an opportunity to move forward in a unified way. The Board values our shareholders, partners, members and fans and without further distraction, will continue working tirelessly to improve and drive results amidst these challenging times.
The Club will not be commenting further on this matter. https://www.melbournevictory.com.au/news/melbourne-victory-statement

Darkest day in the clubs history, not fantastic areas eh??
Copped a drubbing so bad it made me want to login again and rant :hehe:
Feel so sorry for Brebs, the decision makers have ruined his career before it started.
Hope everyone's been well <3

Like my boss told me if you dwell on something that's shit its gonna affect you always. And my job I can kill or injure people with one wrong move
