its looking much better, but I'm still expecting a slow start given the late putting together of the squad.

as for the last visa spot, I wouldn't bother factoring in ACL. we're not gonna make the group stage. I'm thinking we'll just go in with 4 visa players as Traore won't come cheap. 

It's also not such a bad thing to have a spare visa spot for the January window, if we're struggling and need to fix a glaring hole in the team - easier to do that with a visa player than trying to find an Australian player.

Squad depth an issue. If Kurz can get the same steel in defence as with Adelaide they should be top 4.

there is a clear stronger emphasis on promoting kids, which is a good thing. the defence definitely looks much better now. 

Happy with the starting 11. Depth an issue but always is in a-league. 

Weve had strong teams on paper before and struggled. 

Looks in top 2 midfield/forward lines in the league. If not the best. 

So throughly happy with Adama. 

No depth at CB but strangely plenty at FB.
Lots of new faces in midfield but pedigrees should hold them in good stead. Proven (HAL) commodities up front. 
Only concern is in defence but at least we know that the left side will be on absolute lock down all year. 

The talk of Kurz looking to sign another midfielder must surely mean that he is planning to play Hoogland at RB or CB, surely. With Brown out of the picture Roux would be the weakest link in our current defence I would think, so I reckon he'll be an RB, or he'll allow Deng to move over to that spot.

Transfermarkt counts him as playing 112 games at RB thus far in his career, as opposed to 80 at CB, 48 at DM and 20 at RM.

The last refering to Hoogland? I also forgot to add that whilst we don't have depth per se in defence, as you've just noted we have plenty of versatility which in the HAL is arguably more important anyway 

I'd assumed Hoogland will be playing in the midfield, but I'm starting to think you're right.

And if we do sign a DM as our last visa player, I can't see a spot for Broxy in the starting 11. Hoogland playing CB means Deng moves to RB, with Roux as backup. I know we say this every year and within a month Broxy is starting every week. but with a new coach, i think it might be different this year. 

I know Broxy is a fan favourite, but I honestly can't see us winning another title with him as a regular starter. He's the perfect backup for almost any role though.

Every pre season we say this. He'll force someone out by Christmas, as it should be.
