Well hopefully Marco is ready to roll for 90 mins tomorrow night. He'll slot in nicely to Kruse's spot.

the young players need to be "blooded" into the team and for them to step up to the mark which I think Carlos has some faith in them to do.........;charliecat

It would be even better if they developed some Victorian kids and gave them a chance rather than constantly taking kids from other teams academies

City with the win over Brisbane today. I'm going to start believing that we can still make the finals.
Seven games to go, six points behind Brisbane and four behind both WSW and WU. WSW with a game in hand.
Crucially we have a game remaining against all three of them, so obviously those games will be critical. Brisbane and WSW will also play each other as will WU and WSW, so hopefully they'll end in draws.
All three also have a game each against Sydney where they'll hopefully drop points; if we can get a point (or more) off Sydney next week after they get flogged by Jeonbuk midweek we are back amongst it, I reckon.
Could come down to WSW away in our last game.

They'll make a decision 21 days before the match apparently. Chiangrai away on 22nd April after that. Hopefully that one doesn't move as I've got my flights booked!

“FRANKSTON Pines has signed off on a $3.9 million revamp of Monterey Reserve with work to start next February. The State 3 outfit is also eyeing a deal with Melbourne Victory as part of an ambitious expansion plan that could return the club to former glory. Pines has been keen to redevelop a junior program that waned and eventually shut down around 12 years ago. Enter A-League heavyweight Victory with an offer of free weekly clinics for local primary school children.” www.baysidesidenews.com.au

Malmö FF is close to bringing home Ola Toivonen.
According to reports to SportExpressen, the striker has announced that he wants to return to MFF - and the parties have been negotiating for a while and agree in principle on an agreement.
Nothing is quite clear or written, but everything indicates that Toivonen will play in Malmö FF in 2020.

+x+xLooking bAck do you reckon your kind should of tried to get berisha back for this season? Nope. Wouldn't have worked with Ola as our main front man. Berisha was replaced because we needed a new centre forward. If he was willing to play as a sub striker instead of Athiu then sure but he isn't the sort of character to really accept that and i doubt we would have been able to get him to accept back up player wages to keep us under the cap. Either way, the transition to Ola up front was done seamlessly enough. It was the complete neglect of midfield that fucked us.

In hindsight considering how much we needed to use Kenny of course it would have been good to have Berisha back as Ola's backup instead, but at the time we had an attack of Toivonen, Kruse, Nabbout and later Rojas, so it would have seemed crazy to go for so much depth in a salary capped league, and that's if Berisha would accept that role or salary as mentioned above.
Next season, however, I wouldn't be upset at all if we saw him in blue again, if only because it's probably going to be very hard to sign anyone else from overseas to replace Toivonen.
He also just posted a custom PS4 he got, which has an image of him in a Victory shirt on the case, so that's something.

+x It was the complete neglect of midfield that fucked us. Our midfield has been so dire, I can see the club over-compensating by stacking our midfield next season, and we'll end up being short of goal scoring options :P

So we might end up with a woeful back line again

+xReports floating around Nabbout has signed for Glory next season. I don’t think you'll see too many Victory fans shedding a tear over this. He might well play well at Glory, but he simply can’t handle the pressure if a big club.

One would be a homecoming of a known identity who loves Victory, the other a proven quality in a needed area, and I won't hold my breath for any other foreign signing under these circumstances.
