Yeah, an AM, but I'd assume we'd be trying to put him next to Valeri, as the link man that Milligan was and Bozanic never really made it as, with a higher profile marquee CAM in front of them.

+x+xFor Vuck's sake suggesting we've signed Stefan Mauk. Has been a bit of a rumour since he tweeted about loving Melbourne when he was back here a few days ago. Was just about to come in and post this. Interesting signing if true (the FVS boys have good form tbh) - Mauk is very much an attacking midfielder, is he not? He spent most of his time playing as one of the 2 in front of Isaias for Adelaide and was great there. I'm not too sure how he'll do in the Bozanic/Milligan role as I feel his biggest strength is his movement in between the lines to get into goal scoring positions from deep. We could switch from Kev's tried and trusted 4231 to a 433 (which we trialled a lot with Bozanic/Troisi in pre season last year). Something like Mauk-Marquee ValeriWe struggled last year at times to get the ball to Troisi, and a switch to this shape is one way to alleviate this issue without signing a player who is able to be incisive as Millsy next to Valeri.

That's a possibility as well, I expect we'll be asking him to do more defensive work than he's used to though.
Either way, good signing if true. It leaves us a marquee CAM and a LB short of a very good first XI.

One of those has to be an AFC player - wouldn't mind the club looking at emerging countries such as Thailand and Vietnam as well as the more established powerhouses for the player. Reckon we could find a very good player there for a great price. Try and sell the whole lifestyle angle to the player as opposed to just the cash, as well as helping them learn English for a good tilt at Europe. Gotta be creative whilst we remain a salary capped league on how we sell the club to players haha.

If the Mauk rumour is true he would be the first ex-Citeh player to come our way (admittedly via Adelaide & Netherlands) so I think we can live with that.
Would have to wonder why Citeh are not in the running for his sig?

He was an absolute bastard to City and their players when he was at Adelaide, gave the traditional go f yourself symbol and started a brawl. He would not be a popular returning player.

I reckon Mauk would be well suited to playing the number 8 role that Milligan would play if we were to bring him back. I think he would do a much better job than Bozanic as well. That would open up our marquee spot to finding a creative AM. I like the thinking behind this.

Ah, that explains a lot. I'd forgotten about that incident; good on the lad. Any player who raises the old one finger salute to those baby-blue-red-and-white flogs should be welcomed to the Vuck with open arms.

He has a bit of fight in him. So much more suited to MV than City

Any player who raises the old one finger salute to those baby-blue-red-and-white flogs should be welcomed to the Vuck with open arms. haha I'd forgotten that episode, surely scores him points: Things heated up just before the break when experienced City gloveman Sorensen produced an AFL-style bump to knock ex-City midfielder Stefan Mauk into touch with the ball already out of play. Referee Strebre Delovski pointed to the spot, from where Djite rolled the ball home to double Adelaide's advantage.
Mauk then gave the City bench an inflammatory 2-0 salute on his way back for the restart of play.
The spark was lit and the two sides then came together for a push and shove spat as they went down the tunnel.
Marcelo Carrusca and Bruno Fornaroli shared tense words and soon it got physical, with firebrand forward Harry Novillo kicking out and Mauk at the centre of the tussle.
Novillo and Mauk were cautioned - among 10 players to receive yellows for the night - and assistant coach Joey Didiluca was sent to the stands.

Performances like last night is why I'm disappointed we wont have Troisi next year.
Can only imagine the hunger he'll have to be firing on all cylinders with a starting spot at the World Cup up for grabs.

+xWe’re back at Simonds Stadium, Geelong in January 2018. All members will receive free General Admission access, while the opportunity to upgrade to a reserved seat will be offered in November 2017. I wonder if this means we have done a deal with another club so the game at Geelong is an away game like we did with CCM 2 years ago?
