Arnie said tonight that he’s flying out to Dubai tonight to meet with 13 European Aussie players on Monday. So he has clearly named the squad just hasn’t told the public yet. He said the rest of the squad will be there in the fifa window

He said the rest of the squad will be there in the fifa window From what I understand, half the squad is confirmed but the remaining half isn’t just yet, so he would be meeting with the confirmed players that were able to be called up.

Yep sounds about right. Be good to know who the half were though

Looking at the Scotland squad for the euro’s and John souttar hasn’t been picked. Did a quick wiki search and his last appearance for Scotland was in 2018 but unsure whether they were in qualifiers or friendlies but interesting enough. He’s a 24 year old CB and obviously his brother plays for us already, is he an option?

Unfortunately not, he's only played three games but the most recent one was when he'd just turned 22, the limit is three games (competitive or friendly) before turning 21, as I understand it.

John Souttar had the better prospects at a time. All I know is he got sent down with Hearts and his stock hasn't improved. I wouldn't say he's a bad player.

So according to various news reports 13 players are already in the Middle East yet we can’t name the squad?

I just don’t understand how we have players already in camp yet we can’t announce it

How hard is it to name those in camp already and advise further updates will be made once other players arrive, and maybe even an explanation as to the approach?

I reckon we just don’t announce the squad and we turn up for the first game and keep everyone guessing.

Kayo blocked by Nordvpn. Games on ABC and SBS. How I miss the AFC hub streaming on YouTube until, I think, Bein Sport got pissy and they were stopped.
Should also be on the streams for ABC and not just the telly. I imagine the Telstra my football pass only streams via data (non Wi-Fi) for its own customers and those who do purchase the access pass? Not gonna risk purchasing only to be told to turn off my WiFi and be on the other side of the world preventing access.

Can't wait to see the Iraq Iran group. Bahrain drew with Ukraine in a friendly. We need to be wary if Kuwait but I imagine the Jordan Kuwait game should probably end in a draw. If it goes badly we should end up in the top 4 2nd places. Really mixed feelings and the nerves will kick in for that Kuwait game. Hoping for some quick relief then we can have some fun.

Agree, an early goal for us in that first game would be a great nerve settler, followed a by a few more for a convincing win.

It's just we did surprisingly well in Kuwait last time I felt and Kuwait have lifted their game since then. Add that to their home advantage yet again and that we've not played in ages makes me think we're in for a real stoush. If we lose to both Jordan and Kuwait and they draw amongst themselves we'll be out. I'm not even getting into the 'they don't deserve it then' discussion. I'm just saying the equation is still fairly interesting. Iraq have it good. Cambodia and HK before Iran in the final game. Iraq should have 17 points when meeting Iran who at the moment have a game in hand and 6 points. Iran face two minnows while having Bahrain, who are also in the mix, as their 3rd game. If Iraq get to 17 points before playing Iran while Iran beat Cambodia and HK and only draw with Bahrain, Iran can't top the group. Looking at it, Iran are in deep shit.

I have a sneaking suspicion Zach Duncan will be picked. That would explain why he wasn't selected in the Olyroos squad. With Luongo's injury(?) and the retirements of Jedinak and Milligan we are extremely short on defensive midfielders.

We'd be on 18 points, and Kuwait and Jordan would be on 17. We're pretty much guaranteed to progress as long as we beat Nepal and Taiwan.
