What are the odds Australian based players will be called up? I'm sure a fair few would be willing to go but they'd have to have places in quarantine on return guaranteed which might not be possible at the moment.

You'd assume Arnie would pick Vuka, he's been playing preseason friendlies for NEC.

Thomas is the clear second pick, you'd think Izzo would be third.

A few days ago the Age reported possible venues as Hong Kong, Singapore, Qatar or the UAE.

Surely not HK with the opponents being China. With GA based in the ME I reckon one of the latter 2 is most likely even though Singapore would seem a good logistical fit.

Both JJ and GA quoted as being disappointed with the NSW government decision and hopeful things can change before October and November scheduled home matches, which seems unlikely.

The way cases are continuing to move in the wrong direction, surely there is zero chance we’ll be playing a home game in Australia in 2021. 

Sadly Australian Governments - both Nsw and especially federal - couldn’t organise a root in a brothel. If they could we would be able to host WCQ’s here but given the pathetic vaccine roll out- here we are. But Im sure if it was a cricket, thugby or tennis team requesting home games- no problem 👍

With the squad announcement only a couple of weeks away I think arnie has to take deni juric. Maclaren not even playing and taggart injury prone. Duke the only one you can count on so need another option.

Last i read Ruka was going to Turkish club. Ruka, Taggart, D Juric should be ahead of JMac for me

A shame atmosphere wise but that helps us a bit I think.

7 weeks from now we will have played 4 qualifiers. Behich didn't feature on weekend. Degenek with some kind of injury. Thankfully Rogic has his groove back and Mooy will undoubtedly make a return. Irvine with calf issue but may reach decent fitness in time. Luongo and Wright aren't even playing. A League players possibly out too. I think Behich is still too senior to get dropped but he's on the outer. Dougall can slot into RB if Karacic can't do both games. Excluding A League pending announcement, I'd go with:

Ryan, Thomas, Vukovic

Karacic, Sainsbury, Degenek, Souttar, Deng, Elder, Smith

Mooy, Rogic, Hrustic, Irvine, Holland, McGree, Dougall

Mabil, Taggart, Ruka, Boyle, Arzani, Duke

Did u watch him in 2nd half v Egypt? He tore it up/changed the game. 2 shots on target- 1 very close. So much attacking flair. Can dribble past multiple opponents. Not many other Aus forwards players have his technical skills - excluding Rogic, and maybe Boyle, Mabil etc

If we play a 4-4-2 we will get badly exposed, Arnieball will not cut it like that against higher level opponents in Asia.

So either a 4-2-3-1 or a 3-4-3 will do.

yeah admittedly 1 good half of football - but after 2 pretty awful performances

he coughs up the ball to much. his great dribbling through people too often ends up in handing the ball over.  his passing completion percentage is awful.  i've not seen someone get so scolded by other players in the team in an nt performance for a while.

he needs regular game time and performances at his club before he deserves nt call ups. there are other more deserving options. tilio for one.

it's done alright so far.  it's just getting the right people in the right positions.  i wouldnt use the olyroos performance as a marker of the value of the formation.

I agree in Argies game he stuffed up most passes - except for 1 brilliant thru ball to Mcgree in the 6 yard box that Mcgree really should have put away imo. 

I don't know. Arzani can be a very talented footballer. I just don't think he deserves a call up. 

The guy has played 12 competitive club games in the last three years. 

We have a bad habit of picking players who while talented just are not doing enough at club level.

I think before Brad Smith started playing in the MLS he actually had more games played for Australia than games played for a professional football club. Like jesus christ.
