I don't know if they show a replay, but this is an awkward hour to rise for the game. I don't have a recording box anymore, after leaving Foxtel.

whoever decided on the 4am kickoff can fuck right off. isn’t the Doha stadium air conditioned? There is no excuse to not play this into prime time in Australia (and China for that matter). mind boggling decision.

We're playing in the pre-existing Khalifa International Stadium apparently, same one that the Australian and Japanese fans were locked outside of because they filled all the seats with South Asian labourers dressed up in Arab clothes for the 2007 Asian Cup final.

Maty has made a full recovery from his surgery and is back training with the Real Sociedad team.

Hopefully matches will be available to watch as replays on 10 play or YouTube. https://10play.com.au

Apparently it'll be on demand on 10Play.

I assume Mat Ryan would be acting skipper if selected and in the starting XI, but who is next in line after that - Mooy or someone else ?

Mooy doesn't strike me as as captain - too reserved and shy. If Maty plays then it will probably be him. Otherwise Irvine, Sainsbury or Vukovic would be a chance if they start.

This is a left field shout, but Hrustic could make a good future captain from what I saw last qualifying round. Was definitely our attacking leader on the park, has a bit of fire/tenacity about him and likes to play on the front foot.

I like the idea of giving Hrustic a chance at the armband... might lift you never know.
Really disappointed in the marketing for these games no real talk about squad announcements, last set of quals we had so much talk going on - it was great.

Might also depend on his presence/influence at training etc, and I have no idea about that.

That’s a solid core leadership group there as Maty, Sains, Vuka and Irvine all have leadership personality traits.

IMO if I was ranking the order of captains:
- Captain: Maty - Second Captain: Sainsbury - Third Captain: Vuka - Fourth Captain: Irvine - Fifth Captain: Souttar (he captained Stoke recently in a cup match, as well as the Olyroos when Deng was off the field)

Zappone says they'll be having a chat with Doha, Israel and Kuwait. Strain and McGowan in?

Squad
Ryan, Thomas, Vukovic, Izzo.
Seems they'll announce in blocks and have a chat. Nice format.

4 GK and 10 defenders looks like a large squad being named - maybe 30

Ryan, Thomas, Vukovic, Izzo
Strain, Grant, Degenek, Souttar, Sainsbury, McGowan, Wright, Behich, Elder, Smith
Dougall, Genreau, Hrustic, Irvine, Jeggo, Mooy, Rogic, McGree
Arzani, Boyle, Duke, Mabil, Taggart
That's the 27. Too many defenders I feel. Happy for Wright to get back. A shame Luongo couldn't sneak in.

Will Elder get inured today for Hull? It's been a 6 year wait for me to finally see this!

I mean exposure to the squad is good and all but 3 left backs for two games? Plus out of form Grant and the raw Strain? Strain is good but these WC conditions are very tough. Still, you would have Behich play at right back in order to have Smith on the left surely?

Disappointing not to see deni juric in the squad also pretty harsh to exclude Holland who played well last qualifiers. Borello had his chance but couldn't take it last qualifiers
