+x+x+xCrazy idea as it sounds but with Rogic should Arnie be tempted to bring in Lachlan Brook into the squad? It could be way too soon for him but he's a very good talent from what ive seen from him with the Olyroos but a similar player to Arzani except he's left footed. Thoughts? It's the crucial window. Brook has done very well and can make the squad. I'd still trust Ikonomidis and even Leckie to come in with their experience. I wouldn't mind seeing two of Jeggo, Dougall, Devlin starting to rough it up a bit. Lachlan brook is unlikely to make the squad. We're not in the same position we were in a few years ago when ikonomidis and others were invited without any first team minutes. As much as I like Brook he has played very few senior minutes and has recently been dropped to the bench for Brentford B as well. I think he has yet to prove himself at a higher level. He started and scored in the second last game he played against QPR U23 before going to Dubai

In terms of future squad development it won't surprise me given we have seen the likes of Arzani, Ikon selected from before that he gets a surprise inclusion to see how he goes in the senior set up. It really depends on how he develops and whether he can make the jump into a first team environment, maybe a loan move would not be a bad idea if he cant break through at Brentford to help he's cause.

+xWe got italano, Brook, pepuion, Francois, watts and kuol all playing reserves for big clubs hopefully they kick on Valpato & JRB as well. Out of interest, who out of those mentioned will crack the first team this season if at all? Maybe Kuol on the bench? Peupion has come on off the bench the last few games for Brighton's u23s & haven't seen Francois for a while either. Real shame about Tyrese - thought it may have been a breakout year for him when he started in the first game of the season for Fulham, but hasn't played since for the top team.

Please not JRB bc Arnie might have a brain explosion and play him as a CF like he did at the Olympics against Egypt - one of the weirdest substitutions ever.

I'm guessing you missed the recent Barca game where Koeman put Pique upfront to try and salvage a game lol... happens all the time.

According to the Joey lynch Jamie Maclaren article the squad for the November games is set to be announced today with six city players on the shortlist. Good, Maclaren, Leckie, nabbout, atkinson and metcalfe

Just seen that the Ross county hibs game was postponed for a second time because of a covid outbreak at Hibernian. Unsure if boyle has it or not but this would put him in serious doubt for coming to Australia next week

That would be disastrous - Boyle is a bigger loss to us than Rogic and Taggart.

Whilst Bowyer doesn't see a future for McGree at Birmingham, you would think that maybe other Championship managers would be interested.

Volpato's Sister stated that he only wants to play for Italy, I know her personally so I have her socials however watch this space in 10 years, when he is back in Australia, zero Italy caps, twerking for Steve Corica or Kevin Muscat for his first Australian cap.

This guy is back. 10,000 simulations. Fun to check but also take it with a grain of salt. Pre group stage we were 37% to finish first and the same for 2nd. http://www.football-rankings.info/2021/07/afc-qualification-world-cup-2022-july.htmlNow we're 50% for 1st and 39 for 2nd. I'll take it :D http://www.football-rankings.info/2021/10/world-cup-qualification-simulations.html

It's a reality almost now with Taggart definitely out and Rogic confirmed to miss weekend game but still may make Australian squad. Holland also injured and probably out. Add Hrustic scare and the Boyle Covid situation.
“With Martin Boyle [who was expected to link up with his Australia team-mates for a double header against Saudi Arabia and China], it’s down to the period of time he has to stay isolated and it is being discussed currently with the relevant authorities. For our other internationals, it's down to what their governing bodies suggest.”
As much as it seems to be pressure on the squad, how fit and ready are the A League players? Maclaren and Leckie will definitely join at this rate. Jeggo and Dougall are ready to come in especially the former. Irvine will definitely be needed and I hope Arnie gets his role right.
No issues at the back end of the park. Midfield reserves can fill the void and Genreau and possibly even Metcalfe could feature from the bench.
Further up it's a bit more tricky but the return of Leckie, Maclaren and the promotion of McGree and maybe even Ruka makes the squad seem fairly normal.

https://ultra.zone/2022-FIFA-World-Cup-qualification-AFC-Third-Round#group=bFeel free to drive yourself nuts with this. I just can't see Saudi Arabia not winning their games nor Japan dropping points.

Its amazing that there have been no draws in our group to date. That is the unpredictable problem with the second half of the games, especially as there have not been a lot of goals in the games so far. The pressure will mount on Japan, and I suspect they will have a few draws in them.

Japan and Saudi still need to play them there, so will be interesting.

Us beating the Saudis and China plus a handful of draws elsewhere would just about see us home.
