I look forward too your chart with all figures... You the accuse of selective posting while only using one of the three areas posted.... I am sure you can look up the figures and post easily post them.... no one is suggesting greatness nor massive support for FFA or working for FFA.... You post better when don't attack people who simply post available data with no comment and assume their motives... Metro ratings are done using an estimate of 15 million people. Regional ratings are presumably the other 8 million people When you combine metro and regional its an estimate of the viewing habits of 23 million people which is 150% bigger than a just metro audience. As somebody who understands statistics you should know this One metro ratings for the first 3 rounds are 245k. A 13% drop from last year Fox figures are down 16% Crowds are down 7% That's the reality of it If you want to compare the fourth category of regional ratings then you have 88k vs unknown. A divided by 0 error increase BB Thanks for explaining my base figures are different ... so yes I totally understand the concept of comparing apples and oranges.... In the spirit of the ""Olive Branch""" we can lift the discussion on this site by not attacking and or assuming motives... This site like many others has lost many good discussions due too IMO two factors, AFL posters who troll often using multi-es to discredit discussion and secondly Football posters who have developed a habit of attacking other posters because they have a different view of the world.... For the record roughly 12 to 15 months I wrote my future Australian structure and sent it too the Roar three times and it was never published after their change in ownership.... I did not post on this site as at the time it had become toxic with the above paragraph... In brief its this ...The A-League, W-League, Second Division, all run themselves with their own independent boards... with FFA oversight if they stuff up or a member wants to complain... All Football money from the State Feds [more than FFA], A-League, W-League, international matches etc added together and then allocated on a needs basic.... Essentially FFA develop a conceptual framework for everyone to operate. For the above to work requires three huge changes to FFA, first the handing of power to those that run the competitions they are in, second no salary cap, third transfer fees. Over time say 9 to 12 years with astute management P & R will simply evolve... I also maintain, its not only FFA who have made mistakes and placing all blame on FFA for all the ills of Football will allow future mistakes to happen... and puts on armour in that not every single thing FFA have done is wrong.

+xFriday marquee slot gets 10,063 for the reigning premiers. And it was bring a friend for free day. Is this a joke. Sydney said they didn't like the Friday fixtures but everyone has to have them, traditionally not a popular time slot. I have no problem with the crowd figure they just need to play in appropriate stadiums for smaller fixtures. The only time you need Alliance is for Melbourne Victory and the Wanderers. I guess clubs are making decisions that are financially best and I understand this. It is a shame because a lot of the crowd culture is lost on the game and the TV audience. The same could be said for Phoenix and The Roar.

"I have no problem with the crowd figure they just need to play in appropriate stadiums for smaller fixtures."
So the record breaking premiers/champions just need smaller stadiums so their crowds don't look embarrassing.
On prime time Friday bring a mate for free night.
Yeah, nup.

So what exactly is the best time slot? Seems to be a complaint attached to every spot.

Have people just started watching the A-league? These crowd complaints are 5 years old and comparative to rugby codes. The best time slot is Saturday evening but it is not feasible for all teams to play it especially when Fox determines the times. Crowds fluctuate based on times. I don't profess these circumstances are right, it is what it is. A-league needs to find a way around it.

+xFriday nights are shithouse anyway, hate having home games then more than any other timeslot. off the top of mu head, City has had more than their fair share in the last two years-could that be why their crowds haven't grown as much a s people say they should. Didn't Adelaide have Friday nights for many of their home games and it became a routine for them with good attendances.

Yeah Friday nights here used to be great and we always had our best crowds then. I think probably coz we started to broadcast Friday night games we got less of them. Can't be sure if that's true. Oh and when I looked around the ground Saturday night i guessed closer to 12.5k than 11.5k so I was a bit surprised. It's always a struggle to see where another 5k people can fit.

If we have any games this season at that time there's a 90% chance I won't be there. Would have to be something riding on the game like the final round and a win away from top 2 or whatever.

Did you take into account that seated capacity is 15,500? On the night I did point out when its full people stand 2-3 people deep, yes. I know Hindmarsh well enough to know it's capacity. I could have said 4k and the point would have been the same too. Not saying the count was wrong or there's a conspiracy. Just that it "felt" over 12k. You can generally tell by how full the southern stand starts to get. The point about struggling to see where the other people would fit is something I am always amazed at in any arena for sport or music. Especially at a concert when you realise how many people can squeeze onto the floor area.

Not supporting your team is a bigger fail. They're a disgrace, rotten to the core, yellow is a horrible colour and their beaches are as exciting as Bill Shorten
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Maccarone bemoans poor A-League crowdsMassimo Maccarone is enjoying life in the A-League but says it's difficult to play in stadiums that are "always empty'. 1 NOV 2017 - 12:38 PM UPDATED 5 HOURS AGO The Brisbane Roar marquee striker has scored three goals in his first four games, including a brace in last weekend's 3-3 comeback draw against Wellington Phoenix. But the 38-year-old Italian import said he'd perform even better if he was playing in front of bigger crowds. Maccarone volunteered the opinion himself after he was asked by reporters on Wednesday for his view on the playing standard of the competition. "It's different from Italy, where I played. But I think it's good," he said. "Every time you go and we play home or away, we play in a good stadium. "I think it's not good that it's always empty - there's no people coming to see the game..............................

Agree with this. In the past the older mods used to constantly remind posters to 'attack the idea not the person.' Now a few of the newer mods are guilty of attacking the person themselves. So they are hardly like to enforce the prevailing 442 protocol and rules. For some reason some people who participate in internet discussion seem to be overly keen to create conflict, not consensus. This is obviously due to lack of social skills in face to face interaction off forum. In terms of discussing crowd numbers for the HAL I cannot see why some get so heated.

Thanks for posting this, Billy. I'm trying to think of the games the Roar have played this season. They have had two home games where I think they've had 10 000 plus, but their away games have been at City and Nix. Hopefully, he plays in Adelaide, against Victory and in the Sydney venues soon. Glory also got a decent crowd.

A large portion of Mariners fans are families with children so 7PM on Sunday night is a horrific time slot for us. Considering Gosford is a commuter town plenty of people would need to get up early the next morning so would be unable to go so late. A few years of poor results and a shackling by Newcastle in the first round wouldn't have helped either. We are capable of good crowds and averaging above 10,000 but a combination of terrible time slots and poor results lead to our small crowd.

The same could be said for Phoenix and The Roar. I don't know how many times I have said this but people tend to always forget the element of consecutive home games and the effect it has. Sydney has played 3 home games in a row! With the derby being wedged in the middle. So it is extremely unlikely that the same fans are going to 3 home games in a row. Attendance fatigue can set in. It's not as if it's a different set of fans attending all 3 games, the majority would of the fans there are the one's that went the week before, however proportion say 30-40% will not go to 3 home games in a row. It's just not plausible. If the 3 latest home games had been spread out over 5-6 week period the crowds would have been boosted. No doubt about it. The next home game is against the Jets in 2 weeks time, which will mean 3 weeks since the last home game. It will get the biggest crowd of the season (bar the derby) by quite some margin.
