The suspensions aren't so bad for Syria as they'll have fresh legs. I expect their Swedish based defender to get his first starts and he's classy at EL level. Their captain will start in attack and they surely have a reserve midfielder decent enough. with 15,000 fans there and reports of around 45,000 sold so far, we could very much be a near away side as our fans won't be too loud I suspect.

The LB from the last game, Moayad Ajan, is not suspended so I am not the Somi will play. Jihad Al-Baour will surely replace Al-Masri, Al-Khatib to replace Kharbin and either Omari or Mido to replace Al-Monayed is my guess.

Referee is Irmatov from Uzbekistan. Excellent. Two world cups and we had him against Kuwait and UAE in the Asian cup. Generally a very calm and rational ref.

Having had a quick read of that article about the Syria team, good news of us and think with the 3 susupended (plus the already injured) will have a huge effort on Syrias performance.  Playing on a decent surface will be to our advantage.  We should win easily tonight with whatever team Ange puts out!

Why would we be lucky if we win? 1-1 away is a good result and we should comfortably do the job at home.

Cahill I hear is a chance for a start that's why I've put him in there, but I would have went with Leckie who would be dangerous in that area.

I'm with you, but I'd rather we at least show dominance enough to convince me we can beat Panama over the course of two legs. An unconvincing scrape over the line will not fill me with confidence.

Wanting Cahill to start is one thing but I think Ange would be insane to not start Leckie and Kruse in the same positions they did last game.

Fresh legs is one thing but they are basically our only threatening attacking outlet and in form.

But yeah, I reckon Ange will go with (similar to above):

Pax was 43k for me when I bought tix last night.

A number that would be an amazing atmosphere at Allianz but near-dead at ANZ.

I agree atmosphere-wise, but ANZ pulls in a bigger crowd, being easier to get to transport wise for most of Sydney.

Maybe Irvine in that role - has played RB before in Scotland - also has the engine for it and seems to be able to read the game well - when to get forward, etc.

I have been a Socceroos fan for over 20 years. No one would want me to want them to lose. I love Ange. Respect to the Syrians and their people but the fact the team is a Assad backed team makes me less sympathetic to their cause. The wider Arab Aussies probably are split. The Syrian fans will be interesting tonight. Probably louder than us.
