Getting really nervous now, but we should have enough even with Ange and his issues to win this.

As terrible as we've been and as nervous as I am at the moment, we still have the upper hand going into this match. Syria can't sit back or they're out. A 0-0 draw gets us through. At home we tend to get over the line. Winning 1-0 gets us through. As bad as it was, a repeat of the Thailand game (winning 2-1) gets us through. A nervy repeat of the Saudi game (3-2) gets us through. A repeat of the other games against Middle Eastern opposition at home (UAE, Iraq, Jordan) sees comfortable progression. See the common link? We tend to win against Middle Eastern opposition at home. Let's hope it stays that way.
On the more pessimistic side (and I'm hesitant to mention this) we could see a repeat of Iran 1997. We've got the 1-1 away draw against Middle Eastern opposition. We now play them at home. Our defence is such shambles that I could easily see us conceding twice (a lot like the game against the Saudis in June). Then we lock up and can't finish any chances, and the game ends 2-2. Syria advance on away goals. Now that I've got that off my chest, let's hope it doesn't happen.

+x+xGame 2, what changes to the team are expected? Ange to fix the things that worked well and stick with the things that didn't. Called it Our 3 most successfull things away: 1. Mooy in the middle (he was MOM) playing throughballs to kruse 2. Leckie up front 3. Having a actual right back Ange fixed all three. F--kwit.

I want everyone do well but Smith and even Troisi have this weird feeling about them. Troisi to take corners for Cahill I suppose?

Nothing about this makes any sense. How does Cahil go from not being able to get on the pitch to starting? How does Mooy get MoM then get dropped? How does smith get reinstated (ever) after being so bad and his replacements doing so well? How does leckie get put to right wing back when he's so much better as a forward? how have we gone from whatever it was we were playing whatever formation we are now playing?

Annoyed Smith still gets a run.

Would of liked Ange to of kept Leckie in the middle. Like the idea of Troisi, a pocket rocket. Don't mind Mooy coming off the bench due to the sapping previous match.

If this match goes to pens and or the next phase if we make it and someone tries to do a Johnny down the sideline..... they are dead to me.

It's going to be fun watching us lose possession. If i was the Syrian coach i'd be laughing at the prospect of the damage that could be done in transition with that lineup.

Back three again? Yup. Brad Smith starting? Yup. Leckie as a wingback? Yup. No Mooy even though he was our best player? Yup.
Ange what are you doing?

I don't like that 11. At all. I feel like even if we win, it will almost be inspite of that lineup

Anyone got a recommendation on which country to support at the world cup next year when we don't make it?

Timmy last match for the Socceroos was good and he seemed to be the only aggressive player on the pitch. I was quite surprised Ange didnt put him on in Malaysia.
Timmy seems to overcome his strop period and is focused on playing again. Expect him to run himself off the pitch by 60 mins.

Let's hope Milligan is ready for a massive match, none of the other mids do any defensive work at all.

We should still win on paper because despite anges crazy ideas the individual players are still far stronger, although that's proved wrong a few times this campaign
