Those accounts detail what’s spent on everything from David Gallop’s salary to the photocopying budget - but also parts of the World Cup bid going back nearly a decade. The clubs have been demanding to see the books for more than a year, convinced they will find evidence of the FFA wasting money that could go to the, um, clubs. It’s taken months of negotiations to get to this point. SYDNEY FC: Arnold happy to cop Wanderer heat It’s impossible to overstate the significance of the meeting on Monday, as the clubs have been threatening legal action to get to see the FFA’s accounts - and may yet go to court, depending on what’s provided. Llorente has had long locks for some 15 years, and no one’s going to make him cut them. Mot even Tony Popovic, even though we hear the recently departed Wanderers coach made it known he prefers a short back and sides upon Llorente’s arrival at the club. With the cheerful smile he seems to have had from day one, Llorente carried on as before. More than 30 figures including rally driver Molly Taylor, TV presenter Stephanie Brantz and the COO of Hyundai will be assigned to players to help them map out career paths and personal development. ●●● IT was no coincidence Sydney FC premiered their documentary, ‘The Record Breakers’ - about last season’s record-breaking success - the week of the Sydney derby. The whole squad attended the premiere at Fox Studios and left more motivated than ever to take on their city rivals. Still with Sydney FC, and while the attendance for their first home game of the season on Sunday night was disappointing, they made up for it with merchandise sales at the stadium. On the back of last season’s success and the club’s new logo, more money was spent per head ever for any team at Allianz Stadium/SCG across all four local football codes. The previous record was Sydney FC v Newcastle in 2012 - Alessandro Del Piero’s first home game. In a room full of the country’s best female athletes, Sam Kerr was the biggest star at the Women’s Health Women in Sport Awards. She was quite rightly named Sportswoman of the Year and few cheered louder than her Matildas teammates Lisa De Vanna and Steph Catley, along with FFA boss David Gallop. Kerr has been so inundated with requests since arriving back in Australia that she now has her own PR person managing her schedule.

Considering that the financial statements are independently audited by Ernst & Young every year, dare say there wont be anything significant. Audits only make sure you're presenting the financial statements properly while working within the law. They spot stuff like potential fraud and have a materiality where you could still do some dodgy shit without being caught. So you just bought a new house? Do you have the supporting docs to prove it? That's all an auditor cares about, not making recommendations on how the money SHOULD be spent. I don't think GG cares how the accounts are presented. He will be looking at where the FFA are spending money and why it wasn't given to the clubs instead.

well I would say the major point of interest is exactly how much money is attributable to HAL and what percentage is spent on it and the clubs.
Judging by Griffins comments recently,this season there has been less than $400spent by FFA on advertising so far this season ,which is shocking.Apparently most of the FFA marketing staff have been sacked.True or not,i dont know.

How much on travel (many haven't forgotten FFA big wigs turning up in Townsville to be met by chauffeur driven cars to take them to close down Fury due to lack of funds) How much on unexplained consultancy fees (to marketing gurus to come up with new logos or slogans, or to consultants for ill-defined services) How much on exec salaries at FFA HQ Etc. the reality is FFA board and management are responsible for the running of the organisation and they are accountable to their stakeholders (the congress) for their actions, outsiders normally arent in a position to adequately assess validity of those decisions, no different to shareholders telling telstra or BHP where/how to spend their money. Perhaps there should be a forensic audit of the accounts of the HAL teams losing money see if they are wasting money on travel, salaries, termination packages for multiple CEO's (ie Roar) etc, may give a better picture of how they are being run.

As to the owners accounts.Well as soon as they become public enterprises that's when they have ro show their accounts to the public.But does anyone really doubt they are taking cash out of their own pockets to run their clubs?

The Smith report showed up that 50% of the clubs' losses at that time were the result of discretionary spending.

Reality is they HAL teams are franchisees of the FFA, buying licenses to run teams in a franchise league, contracts & terms they all knowingly signed up for. I am sure Jim doesn't show his accounts to all his mowing franchisee's and the fact some of the teams can run profitably (Victory & Wanderers) shows there is no reason the others cant. It's much easier to put your hand out and ask for more, rather than get ff your arse and do something positive to increase revenue. I mean look at Roar, dont even have a proper shirt front sponsor and we are into round 3. Similar with Griffins, if he spent as much time & effort promoting AU as he did chasing FFA, I am sure their financial position would be different.

The FFA table the audited accounts at the AGM as required by their constitution and the Corporations Act. The constitution limits access of members to inspect FFA documents unless approved by the Directors or allowed by Law and if approval is given the Directors determine the what and how of it.

In particular, the letter singles out lawyer and former Matilda Moya Dodd, an FFA board member, and asks for a breakdown of the "consultancy services" for which Ms Dodd was paid $113,636 in 2015 and 2016. It also asks for "details of the services provided by Ms Dodd for which any similar payments have been made during the 2017 financial year". The letter has been signed by Greg Griffin, chairman of Adelaide United and the A-League clubs' representative to FFA.
....In addition, the clubs want to see documents outlining the nature and scope of transactions between FFA and the state federations and FFA and sponsors where the sponsorship incorporates any sale or disposal of A-League inventory.
A-League clubs demand forensic audit of FFA books as revenue row escalates Its about what Ben said and if they cant do anything they will at least try to expose things to the public to get even more energy against the FFA.

The answer is no they don't, they are governed by self interest.
And whilst being governed by self interest is okay and good to a point, does anyone really want Greg Griffin running the show?
The FFA needs to find s way to repair the relationships with clubs, andyes give all stakeholders a greater say and transparency in the running of the game.
But if anyone thinks there is this magical pot of gold under the FFA's pillow...there dreaming.
N.B the only A-League club that hasn't received financial assistance from the FFA in the history of the A-League is the Wellington Phoenix
